How safe is Salt Lake City?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Salt Lake City, is generally considered safe, but like any urban area, it has parts that are less safe than others. During the day, the majority of neighborhoods are safe to walk around, but at night some areas can become a bit risky. Always prioritize well-lit and populous places, avoid shortcuts through poorly lit areas or parks, and maintain an awareness of your surroundings. Depending on the neighborhood, the safety level can vary significantly. Public transportation is generally safe and reliable.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Salt Lake City's public transportation, which includes buses and light rail (TRAX) are generally safe and reliable options. The city’s public transport is well-maintained and pretty comprehensive, but like any urban area, stay alert and aware of your surroundings, especially during night time. However, crime rate is relatively low and the city is usually populated with commuters and university students, which adds an extra level of safety.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Salt Lake City, generally speaking, is a safe and friendly destination for solo female travelers. While you should always be aware of your surroundings and take standard travel precautions, you are unlikely to experience frequent or severe street harassment. Most parts of the city play host to diverse demographics, welcoming travelers from around the globe. Nonetheless, like anywhere in the world, there may be certain areas or situations to avoid, especially during late-night hours. Always trust your instincts.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Salt Lake City, as with many cities, does have instances of petty crimes. This includes theft, pick-pocketing, and vandalism. However, compared to some larger cities in the US, the frequency of such occurrences is relatively low. It is still essential to ensure your valuables are securely stored, and you remain aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded places.

Is Salt Lake City worth visiting?

Solo travel

I really enjoyed Salt Lake City. The city is quite transparent and extremely clean, with beautiful views of the mountains and hiking trails, as well as plenty of people walking around and spending time in their own ways.

I feel with any city there are going to be places that are safe and places to avoid. Central downtown near city Creek Mall and temple are fairly safe. I would not recommend going too far west or south in the city. South Salt Lake is not a safe area. Almost everywhere else in the valley is very safe. I strongly recommend exploring the nearby hiking trails if that's the type of thing you're into.

The city has a small-town of atmosphere of hospitality. Locals are typically attentive and helpful if you ask advice and directions. The Temple area is a peaceful area to rest, sit in the garden to write, use your phone, take pictures, amor simply reflect for the day. There great culturally diverse restaurants to go. Drive through the University of Utah campus and their enormous magnificent stadium. Check out college games to watch. Check out the state capitol, City Creek Mall, and the modern architecture of the city library. If you plan to stay longer, check out the Big 5 national parks of Utah. Looking forward to see you in Salt Lake City.
