How safe is Minneapolis?

Minneapolis is a very safe city but beware of your surroundings in some areas. Uptown Minneapolis is really nice, I walked around there at night and felt safe. The only area I’ve had issues in is north Minneapolis.

There is some crime (car jacking, theft, mugging) but overall very low. Rape or sexual assault is low, but you should still watch your drinks at clubs and not accept substances from strangers. Use Uber or Lyft here for transportation.

Minneapolis is a fairy safe spot if you’re with groups! I’ve never walked around alone nor do I recommend it! I mostly stay away from the cities after dark, with all the bars and clubs around, the streets can get pretty crowded.

It depends on where you are. My neighborhood feels pretty safe. I walk alone at night sometimes and sleep with my window cracked open some nights. Other parts of the city are not safe. I’ve been catcalled a few times. I’ve never taken public transit as I have a car.

I’ve never felt unsafe in Minneapolis or St. Paul during the day, unless around the main metro transit areas. Most metro areas are fine if you don’t talk to anyone, and just mind your own business, but I don’t think this area is any less safe than any other large city.

It is a relatively safe city, but you need to use caution when walking alone at night. Certain areas are safer than others. Gun violence is on the rise, but that is everywhere in the United States. Public transportation in Minneapolis is not great.
