Minneapolis is a nice city, just make sure to not visit lake street at night like past 2am. Otherwise the city is nice, it’s beautiful but a bit boring. Don’t trust Somali men who lure you in, most of time they want to have relationships with you and then leave you- Somali woman:

Minneapolis, like any city, has low-resource, high-crime neighborhoods. I often spend time in many of these areas during the day and do not have many problems. Downtown at night can be dangerous, like any downtown. Bring a friend, watch your drink, and be cautious on the street. Do not take the middle cab of the light rail (train) at night. That is the designated cab for unhoused people / drug users. Don’t ask me why 🤷🏼♀️. If you’ve ever been to a city like Portland, Boston, or Denver, I’d say those are all pretty comparable. Minneapolis is still higher up on the safety-rating than bigger American cities I’ve been to. Just know where you’re going!
Posted: July 17, 2025Minneapolis is a very safe city but beware of your surroundings in some areas. Uptown Minneapolis is really nice, I walked around there at night and felt safe. The only area I’ve had issues in is north Minneapolis.

There is some crime (car jacking, theft, mugging) but overall very low. Rape or sexual assault is low, but you should still watch your drinks at clubs and not accept substances from strangers. Use Uber or Lyft here for transportation.
Posted: May 25, 2025Minneapolis is a fairy safe spot if you’re with groups! I’ve never walked around alone nor do I recommend it! I mostly stay away from the cities after dark, with all the bars and clubs around, the streets can get pretty crowded.
Posted: March 31, 2025It depends on where you are. My neighborhood feels pretty safe. I walk alone at night sometimes and sleep with my window cracked open some nights. Other parts of the city are not safe. I’ve been catcalled a few times. I’ve never taken public transit as I have a car.
Posted: January 20, 2025I felt very safe while in Minneapolis. I only use public transportation and found it easy and affordable. There were a lot of food options, including many vegetarian friendly options. I stayed near Target Center and found the neighborhood walkable, friendly, and relatively affordable.
