While I still travel a lot and only see Dallas as a home base, I would say that renting a vehicle or walking with a man makes me feel much safer than if I were alone. Public transportation is okay as are Ubers as far as safety is concerned.

Overall, pretty typical safety for a US city. I would say as long as you’re aware of your surroundings and have a good idea of what neighborhoods to stay in, you’ll be fine. I lived in Kansas City for a while and feel safer in Dallas.

Dallas has many neighborhoods and they are relatively safe, however, solo travelers should be a bit more weary at night especially if you’re trying to experience the night life. Avoid south Dallas near the state fair grounds, alone. The neighborhood of Pleasant Grove is not pleasant and the neighborhood of Oak Cliff has a smaller section call Bishop Arts and that’s safer for visiting in the evenings.

Dallas is pretty safe if you have a car or Uber/Lyft. It’s impossible to get around without it. As far as going out and nightlife, most areas are fairly safe. Some catcalling/harassment but not major.
