Is Dallas safe for solo female travelers?

Dallas is quite safe for solo female travelers. The city is tourist-friendly and most areas are generally safe to stroll around even alone. However, as with any large city, specific neighborhoods may be less safe, particularly at night. It's vital to exercise vigilance, stay aware of your surroundings, avoid traveling alone in isolated areas during late hours, and rely strongly on your intuition. While crime rates are relatively low compared to other US cities of comparable size, it's still recommended to research ahead about the districts you plan to visit. Public transportation is reliable and used by many locals and tourists. Overall, respectful and friendly locals are more likely to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

How safe is Dallas for solo female travelers?

Family travel

Visited different part of Dallas downtown. Giant EyeBall Sculpture is interesting place to visit. We also saw other places like the Thanksgiving Square and Main Street District. We also visited our church in the last day of our trip.

Haven’t had any unsafe experiences in the city. I enjoy the night life and my car is always parked publicly. Locals are really nice but as ladies we still need to be aware and never let your guard down.

While I still travel a lot and only see Dallas as a home base, I would say that renting a vehicle or walking with a man makes me feel much safer than if I were alone. Public transportation is okay as are Ubers as far as safety is concerned.

Overall, pretty typical safety for a US city. I would say as long as you’re aware of your surroundings and have a good idea of what neighborhoods to stay in, you’ll be fine. I lived in Kansas City for a while and feel safer in Dallas.

About me

Recently divorced (4 years free after a 24-year marriage) and absolutely loving this chapter of being single. I’m curious, independent, and ready to explore the world—especially if there’s a waterfall involved. I love camping under the stars, dancing at concerts, experimenting in the kitchen, and getting creative with scrapbooking. I enjoy meaningful conversations, laughter, and swapping travel stories over a home-cooked meal. I’d love to both host and explore, connect with other hosts, and share experiences that feel more like friendship than just travel. Always open to discovering new countries, cultures, and spontaneous adventures. If you love nature, good food, and exploring life with curiosity, we’ll get along just fine 🌿✈️
