Geneva is lovely. I felt pretty safe there, everyone was just minding their own business. Everything is quite expensive. There are lots of things to do, many luxury shops, you can walk/cycle around the Léman lake... I recommend the Botanical Garden of Geneva, which is amazing and 100% free!

Genava is my Hub, as far as I'm using easyjet (whuch is the cheapest one to fly from Egypt. I used to fly to GVA since August 1999 and I stayed there for the last 7 years as a UN accredited correspondant for Al-Ahram daily news paper. I have many friends there and I used to stay in their houses before heading to my destination in Europe.
Posted: June 7, 2024Experienced: March, 2024Geneva is a wonderful city where I felt very safe. The public transportation network in Switzerland is absolutely amazing. The Christmas market is enchanting. There are plenty of stalls with traditional Swiss food as well as dishes from around the world. It's a nice place to take a walk, have a drink and eat a snack. The river and the lake are beautiful for walks, and taking a day trip is easy, both Annecy and Lausanne are great.

Geneva is a very safe city, I would not say there are any unsafe areas, but there are very few people around at night and everything closes early so it can feel strange. The area behind Cornavin station can be a bit sketchy so I would avoid it if you can but it’s not unsafe, you just need to pay a bit more attention to your surroundings.

Geneva is quite safe overall, I’ve always walked home even in the middle of the night without a problem. However it can be quite shady around the gare cornavin, whether it’s day or night so be careful there!

A very safe city, I feel very secure to walk here alone even at night. There are sometimes weird people but not something too extreme. I would recommend staying here if you need some pretty views and a safe place to walk in

Mostly a safe place, but be aware of pickpockets when you walk in the middle of the city or while riding public transportation, that's where broad daylight stealing happen the most. And just don't go at night near the main station (Cornavin) and hotels nearby if you don't have some locals to walk you around, it can get creepy at times. If you have any local low/mid-important issue and understand-speak french, call the nearest municipal police station (you can find their numbers on the web, just...

Usually found outdoors, at a concert, wandering around a new city, or hanging out with my two cats. Always up for sharing stories, coffee, or a spontaneous plan.
