Geneva is one of the safest places I’ve lived in. I have walked home at 1am with no problems at all. You don’t need to hide your phone from snatchers like in London. Never had any issues. People are generally super friendly and always looking to help
Posted: June 4, 2025Geneva feels like a safe city to me. I don’t usually feel scared, even when walking alone, though I’m a bit more cautious if it’s very late. Overall, I feel comfortable here, but like anywhere, I adjust how I move depending on the time and place.

Very safe except if you go in dangerous part of the town but even there it's globally ok. Sometimes it's a bit empty like in the public transport but I have never felt in danger. I live in Genève since 17 year and have never experienced worse tings than men looks or comments

As a woman, you can go back home very late by night without stress by foot, bike, night buses. You don't have people how are sleeping in the streets. Just be careful in some night places like bars or clubs. Some "rich international people" can ask you to "escort" them for monney. And be careful about your glass in some hype clubs...

Super safe - I have lived alone here a couple years and regularly out at night or early mornings never feared for my safety. Public transport is easy and safe. It’s a small town and people are quite wealthy here so unlikely to rob you!
Posted: May 25, 2025Geneva doesn't have a lot of bad/unsafe neighbourhood, especially on the left side. The only not so well known would be around Pâquis/Charmilles and out of the city, but these places are still quite calm. Unfortunately, the amount of drug addicts walking publicly is rising, which would be my highest worry. Overall, I'd say it's more than quite safe.

Tip stay in france at the border. Annemasse is pretty close to geneva by tram and also by train. We used the tram. Restaurents and supermarkets are much cheaper. I love the botanical garden at geneva.

Egypt
Genava is my Hub, as far as I'm using easyjet (whuch is the cheapest one to fly from Egypt. I used to fly to GVA since August 1999 and I stayed there for the last 7 years as a UN accredited correspondant for Al-Ahram daily news paper. I have many friends there and I used to stay in their houses before heading to my destination in Europe.
