Although one of the least safest cities in Switzerland it is an incredibly safe city for global and European standards. Generally a clean city. The best public transport I’ve used in terms of punctuality, reliability and safety. The streets are well lit. The only drawback is despite the r tremendous wealth there are a number of homeless people and beggars who usually struggle with drugs. While they are never aggressive nor hurt it did compromise my sense of safety. Secondly, verbal sexual harassment and staring does occur more than I expected.

Geneva is a safe city. Of course you have to be careful, like in any other place, but overall it’s a pretty safe city. I’ve always walked alone at night and never had any problems. I would nonetheless suggest you may not walk alone at night in quiet neighborhoods. Better take a Uber to get home safe and sound.
Posted: August 16, 2024Geneva is pretty safe compared to other big European cities. As a woman travelling alone you won’t have any problem during the day, just avoid certain neighbourhood at night. Sexual harassment is rare

There is crime like everywhere else, but less often and violent than most of places. But we dont know about it and usually police is very discrete. People follow rules and because is a country that can be strict, there is no much space for crime.
Posted: June 12, 2024I never had any bad experiences in Geneva although I usually go back home alone during the night. Some friends of mine reported to me that they had their bags robbed by an armed guy at night when they were smoking in a remote park outside the city centre, and another friend had her phone stolen in the train station, but it's very rare. Young men from nearby-France coming here in the evening can be really rude, sexists and mess around a lot, but it's easy to avoid them.

Geneva is a safe place for us to walk, to live and meet people doesn’t matter the time. I feel comfortable here to live and get the bus alone at midnight or even at 6AM coming back home after the club.
Posted: May 13, 2024Geneva is safe, I only suggest to avoid some specific places, like the train station during night or the surrounding next to the river (Stand area), but in general it’s a safe place. In my opinion Rive Gauche is safest :)

Living in Geneva for 4 years, I can say I have almost never felt unsafe. I have walked home at almost all times of night in all neighbourhoods without being bothered or feeling unsafe. I have not experienced violence in Geneva and people in general are laid back and kind.

Geneva is safe in General, but you need to pay attention in some places like Paquis, Cornavin or others. if you get advice about places to visit from Locals is always better. Geneva is well known for being an international city, there’s a big cultural diversity, in summer is amazing. You will love it!
Posted: March 30, 2024As a local I can tell you most women feel very comfortable walking around the streets, even alone at night. In general no need to exercise any particular caution, just common sense. Public transport is very safe. My only tip is that most people keep to themselves so strangers rarely step in to help. In the rare situation where you’re alone & feeling uncomfortable with an interaction, actively approach other people to let them know. They will help but not without prompt, even if it’s quite obvious that you’re uncomfortable or being harassed.

Tip stay in france at the border. Annemasse is pretty close to geneva by tram and also by train. We used the tram. Restaurents and supermarkets are much cheaper. I love the botanical garden at geneva.

Egypt
Genava is my Hub, as far as I'm using easyjet (whuch is the cheapest one to fly from Egypt. I used to fly to GVA since August 1999 and I stayed there for the last 7 years as a UN accredited correspondant for Al-Ahram daily news paper. I have many friends there and I used to stay in their houses before heading to my destination in Europe.
