How safe is Geneva?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Very safe

Geneva is generally very safe for solo female travelers, even at night. Like in any other city, there may be occasional incidents but, typically, the city is well-lit and well-patrolled. The locals are welcoming and there is a strong police presence. Public transportation is reliable and available even during the late hours. However, it's always wise to stay alert, avoid deserted areas and keep your belongings close to you.
Public transportation:

Public transportation in Geneva is known for its high safety standards, efficiency and punctuality. This not only includes buses and trams but also boats and trains. The transport system employees are well-trained and responsive to security issues. The level of crime reported on public transports is very low. Additionally, services are frequent even during the night, ensuring that you're never stranded irrespective of your schedule. The routes are well-lit and signposted, again contributing to a safer environment.

Geneva, being a cosmopolitan city and a hub for global diplomacy, is generally safe and respectful towards women. Most residents and even tourists respect individual space and boundaries. Streets are well-lit and monitored, so instances of street harassment are quite rare. The city's well-structured transport system and vigilant law enforcement further contributes to this. However, as with any city, caution is still advised, especially during late evenings in less populous areas.

Geneva, as the rest of Switzerland, is well-known for its high level of security. Petty crimes such as pickpocketing, theft, and minor scams exist but they are relatively rare. However, the overall environment is pretty safe and law abiding, thus making it a comfortable travel destination.

Genava is my Hub, as far as I'm using easyjet (whuch is the cheapest one to fly from Egypt. I used to fly to GVA since August 1999 and I stayed there for the last 7 years as a UN accredited correspondant for Al-Ahram daily news paper. I have many friends there and I used to stay in their houses before heading to my destination in Europe.

Geneva is a wonderful city where I felt very safe. The public transportation network in Switzerland is absolutely amazing. The Christmas market is enchanting. There are plenty of stalls with traditional Swiss food as well as dishes from around the world. It's a nice place to take a walk, have a drink and eat a snack. The river and the lake are beautiful for walks, and taking a day trip is easy, both Annecy and Lausanne are great.

City with a posh reputation, but turned out to be very "boho" and have some French charms. Nice cafes and nice to sit by the lake. Maybe slightly cheaper to drink a coffee in Geneva than in Zurich. Good city for some days!

Geneva was amazing. I was there on a group trip, the only foreign trip I ever took. We visited the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and CERN. I really enjoyed the Red Cross Museum. In Plainpalais, there was an incredible statue of Frankenstein's monster.

Geneva was wonderful. To be honest, the best part was when I went to a small town named Vevey and from there I managed to get on a cable car to Mont Pèlerin, the view was fantastic (it's 1h by train from Geneva). Geneva was good, and all the museums - d'Histoire Naturelle and Musée d'Art et d'Histoire were free and large, so I really spent hours there. Lake Geneva was also amazing.

One of the safest capitals in Europe, however petty crime does happen on occasion. Other parts of the country are safer. You need to stay vigilant because people will not help you if something happens in public.

Geneva is very safe as we iften see patrols at night all over the city and they are very responsive. I am always at peace and even go for nightwalks by myself sometime in the week because I feel safe. I run at 5am as well
