i personally find bern safe and have never had a problem no matter what time of day or night. of course, like everywhere else, you have to be cautious at night. i have often gone home alone after parties on public transport or in taxis and have never been afraid and always felt safe as there are always lots of people out and about in bern except from midnight to 05:00 a.m. less so but otherwise i always feel safe
Posted: September 21, 2024Bern is a small town, swiss people are very polite, we don‘t have a lot of crimes. There‘s still some sexual harrasement happening, but in a minimal amount. The city is very clean, the police offers help in emergency and isn‘t corrupt at all. Robbers aren‘t a thing here
Posted: August 15, 2024Bern is pretty safe. Maybe don‘t let your valuables out of sight and be careful around the train station at night. As a women traveling alone you will be very safe in Bern as ling as you take the nirmal precaussions.
Posted: July 29, 2024There are some places which are not very safe when you're being alone, especially at night. For example the square in front of the Reitschule isn't super safe, but the Reitschule itself is nice and if you can make sure to be accompanied, you don't have to worry. Overall, I feel very safe in Bern.

Bern is a lovely city and very safe for walking alone, even at night! Just stay in the inner city and use common sense. I walk home alone often after midnight, 10-15min walk, and never had a bad experience.

Bern is safe at daytime. Even though in the night you can have a safe stay. Its difficult to say because its depens on the day and your souroundings but i think you can have a really nice stay at bern
Posted: May 17, 2024I would describe Bern as a very safe city, I never had an incidence (neither day, nor night) since I live here. I am generally a bit careful after ten dark, just because I am a woman but had no reason here so far :)
Posted: March 25, 2024Bern is great, the only thing I am not comfortable with is to walk alone in dark placey in the night. Otherwise, I feel very safe, even in the dead of the night or alone. Also everything is very clean and good organised.

In general, the city is pretty safe. However, please do take care of yourself and your belongings at the train stations. It seems to be the main place where the drug addicts flock to. I stayed in an Airbnb 20mins away from the train station and I’m still exploring the city. People are generally nice here as well.

I visited Bern for the 4th time and it was wonderful as ussual, I had very nice weather so I walked around mostly. I felt very safe walking by myself. You should see the bear park and walk around if you can and eat some michelin star delicious sweets near there. The old city is wonderful to walk around too, you have shops there as well. Visit Thun the city and the lake if you have the time. Also trains and trams are very reliable so use that. Everything is pretty expensive so preapre yourself.

I work at the university and have been working in forensic medicine for over 25 years, but I‘m not a doctor, I‘m one of the many more experienced worker bees here 😉. Now I‘m looking for me - je hat’s why I‘ m going on my first solotrip EVER this year… I‘m travelling to Busan, South Korea for 10 days in November… yaaaaaay!! I‘m so excited!!
