Like in every city it is better to be precautious and not walk around alone in certain places when it gets dark. There are some areas where you might feel a bit more uncomfortable in the evening but overall I consider Bern a safe city.
Posted: March 15, 2025I feel safe in Bern in general. Around the main train station and around Reitschule I‘ve experienced slight feelings of unease when being alone at night, but to me nothing has ever happened. Otherwise ask other people for assistance <3
Posted: March 12, 2025Bern is very safe except of the homeless/drug addicted peoples which are near to the railroad station in the center of Bern but that is only a small proportion. Overall Bern is a wonderful city with some small and nice places, coffee shops, restaurants etc.

Bern is small but full of charm! The old town with its arcades, the Aare for swimming, cozy cafés, and the Rosengarten with a great city view – relaxed but never boring. A perfect place to explore! :)
Posted: March 3, 2025Overall it's safe. But I think that sexual harassment can happen like every where on this planet if you look like a women. There are places where you fee less safe because of strange people. The public transport ist really good and more or less safe.
Posted: February 5, 2025Bern is an incredibly safe city. We have some weirdoes here too, but they're nothing to worry about. It's very clean and tourist-friendly. Sure, there are a few places like the Reithalle that you might want to avoid, but overall, it's a great place to be!

Bern is pretty safe. Switzerland in general is a relatively safe country compared to other countries. Public transport is well developed and safe to use. I can't judge the party yet. but the people of Bern are very nice compared to other cantons!

Bern is safe. Only a few streets are not that fine. But are also no touristic destinations. Have a lot of police walking or driving around. Also pibloc transport is really save. I like to live here...
Posted: January 30, 2025It is very safe in Bern, but like everywhere else in the world, women should keep their eyes open. It would be a lie to say that nothing ever happens in Bern. It's always better to walk in pairs at night or take a taxi until you know the city and where things are.

The city is very safe, especially in the center. There‘s neighborhoods that are a little bit less safe but you can move freely and safely move overall. In the center it‘s good to be aware of pick pockets.

During my stay in Bern I felt fairly save except in a few dark parks at night. The city isn’t too big, you can definitely see it in one or two days. It’s surrounded by a river with an amazing view, theres a few sights and museums, I can also recommend the animal park/zoo in the south. Old town is cute, I liked that it had giant chess boards and other games on the piazzas to play with strangers or friends. Price, well it’s Switzerland it’s expensive. All in all cute city, also has good public transportation as far as I could tell! :)
Posted: January 30, 2025Experienced: January, 2025In general, the city is pretty safe. However, please do take care of yourself and your belongings at the train stations. It seems to be the main place where the drug addicts flock to. I stayed in an Airbnb 20mins away from the train station and I’m still exploring the city. People are generally nice here as well.
