During the day you're very safe. When it gets dark i personally avoid train stations. During the day I don't recommend going alone in a forest near a big city.... In the whole country. Langstrasse on evening and saturday/sunday morning also to avoid.
Posted: August 1, 2025Zurich is a dense city with lots of wonderful people. There are some crazy and homeless people here and there but mostly if you avoid them they dont to anything. If they do something they talk to you and it can be uncomfortable but they‘re always in public places so you can avoid them and get security if you‘re at a trainstation.
Posted: July 31, 2025Zurich is a very safe city. You can walk around at night even alone with no problems especially near thr city center. Public transportation is widely available and I use it almost daily sometimes even at night and nothing has ever happened to me.

Zurich is a safe place, its mostly calm but still dont trust everyone. U can really have a good time, u dont have to be worried but also dont feel at home everywhere, not everyone wants u to have a good time, but mostly yes.
Posted: July 25, 2025Appenzell is a pretty safe City or better say Village. The people here are pretty old fashioned and conservative. You really don't need to be afraid that someone will get physical with you, but there are alot of people who will commemt on how you dress. With old fashioned I mean, people will talk if you dress a bit more unique. If you ignore this it is really safe an beautiful and the people are also really nice. You will be recognised as a foreigner and people will also treat you like this sadly. Ofcourse not everybode, but I am speaking for my own experience, because eventhough I was born here my mother is from China and even I get racist comments sometimes. It gets better with time, but I just want to let you know if you consider visiting Appenzell. The Nature here is astonishing with beautiful Mountains we have everything a hiker would want.

Lausanne is a generally safe city, but as any city in the world anything can happen and you can still meet some annoying people in the night on your way home or at the clubs. There are no particularly dangerous neighborhoods, and you can take te public transportation in the night without big stress but it’s possible that you meet some drug addicts on them. Lausanne has a big crisis with crack addicts at the moment but they’re not dangerous per se. They often come during the day to ask for money and thanks it. So I would say lausanne is relatively safe but stay aware at night, just in case !

Geneva is lovely. I felt pretty safe there, everyone was just minding their own business. Everything is quite expensive. There are lots of things to do, many luxury shops, you can walk/cycle around the Léman lake... I recommend the Botanical Garden of Geneva, which is amazing and 100% free!
Posted: July 30, 2025Experienced: July, 2024It was extremely safe, had no issues walking around on my own. The only problem was how early everything closed, so it was important to get up early and see everything you can before 7pm. Even the restaurants close pretty early. Getting the swiss travel pass is definitely worth it, as it always reduces the hassle of buying transportation tickets if you wanna go somewhere
