I went with my dad, it was a fun experience ! It's expensive but the landscapes are very pretty and people are really nice. We went by the lake and spent good moments there. Didn't get the opportunity to do a lot of indoor activities though
Posted: July 3, 2026Experienced: June, 2022There are quite a few hidden cascades and we visited some events. Overall a lovely experience. Switzerland is pretty expensive, so i wouldn’t recommend solo travelling, as its cheaper if the costs are splitted. I would highly recommend visiting Gruyère and trying their famous fondue

I was in Lugano for my summer school and I must say, the Italians were the friendliest. I befriended people from Peru, Poland, Switzerland. A totally wholesome experience. We partied till midnight but also attended our class by 8 am so it was equally balanced :p

Nice calm city but on Sundays everything is closed so be aware of that. I was there with my bestie both feel safe uber was safe as well only the Main Street was a bit scary bc of party people. Zürich is very expensive but so pretty. I recommend you to visit rheinfalls

I traveled to Switzerland on my own and really enjoyed the experience. The country is incredibly beautiful, very clean and well organized, and I always felt safe as a solo traveler. Nature, cities and infrastructure are impressive. However, compared to German standards, Switzerland is definitely expensive, especially public transportation. Still, it was absolutely worth it and I would recommend it, particularly for solo trips.
Posted: January 11, 2026It was great. It was never enough. I went there twice and plan third. So there are many things to do. Especially if you love nature. Every tipe of traveler can find something to do. Hiking, skiing, canoeing, swimming, walking, climbing... Expensive tho.

My au pair stay lasted over five months. I lived with a host family, and the country, the landscape and the many new people I met there inspired me greatly. I lived in the countryside and travelled all over the country every weekend with other au pairs or on my own. This freedom to get to know a country so well over such a long period of time was simply wonderful. I would like to travel to another country as an au pair again in the summer, but only for four weeks (my summer holidays) to...

Loved Switzerland in September! Transport is on point, very safe and breathtaking views. Restaurants aren't really catered for solo travellers though if you want to try single portions of fondue or raclette (+very expensive).

Increeedible! 🤯if you like trekkings you need to do! But very expensive. Fun fact, zermatt is a car free city, so you need to arrive there by train. Loved my stay there, will recommended to anyone. It is goo to go on low season, muchchaper, and not as crowdes

By day it is very safe (you can even leave your things unattended for a moment). By night I would avoid Langstrasse and some areas near the station if you’re alone (especially as a woman) but in groups it’s mostly ok. Sometimes bikes are stolen but we don’t experience much other crime :)

Zurich is super safe. Walking around at day is perfectly fine with no issue. At night I recommend to be cautious walking around in the area of Langstrasse. You will most likely be approached by random people so it‘s best to just ignore and keep walking.
Posted: August 17, 2026During the day there are organized groups of beggars, usually at more touristy places though. They pretend to gift you flowers or are dressed literally as Mickey Mouse, they can turn pretty agressive depending on the situation but ignore them & you're good, they should also be quiet easy to spot, because they stand out, not as clean or calm as the surrounding, fake smile and an attitude. Otherwise mostly shoplifters that as a regular you probably won't notice and let's say avoid Claraplatz in...

Zurich is pretty save as I lived here for some time, nonetheless it is the biggest city in Switzerland meaning it attracts all kind of people. As a woman traveling alone, maybe just take use of the very big public transportation network when it comes to late night walking in „lonely areas“ especially on the weekends. Other than that you‘re very save especially during the day :)
Posted: August 1, 2026Pretty safe just mind your surroundings at night especially when youre alone in shady areas like gundeldingen, kleinhünigen, claraplatz and in underpasses. There is crime in basel because it lays to the borders of germany and france but it shouldnt even be noticeable for you. Safe spaces are wettsteinplatz, marktplatz, barfüsserplatz, steinenvorstadt, universität, bruderholz, münster, messeplatz…
Posted: July 23, 2026Marsens has a psychiatric hospital where sometimes patients roam freely around the center of the village and can act a bit strange but nothing has ever happened in the two decades I have lived here. I would consider Marsens as a very safe place
