Very chill and safe city in Switzerland. During the day there’s no safety precautions to take. Just two places I don’t recommend as a solo female in the dark : Chaudron and place de la Riponne because of drugs users (not dangerous but unpredictable)

It’s a pretty safe city! Comparing to other countries, Switzerland is very safe in general. But we still experience sexual harassment and a little bit of robbery in Lausanne. There are some drug dealers and homeless people in particular spots in Lausanne, it can be disturbing, but they’re harmless, they can just ask you for money sometimes.
Posted: December 25, 2024Lausanne is a safe city for women. Of course it can’t be 100% safe because dangerous men can be everywhere but I lived here most of my life and the worst I experienced is catcalling. I would recommend going here if you are scared about travelling along as a woman

Lausanne is very safe ! Most of the neighborhoods are really calm and safe for women. I never felt scared even coming home drunk at 3am haha. I would recommend to come here without being scared but i would just not go to La Riponne alone at night because its a bit scary and there are many weird people.

It’s not what it was used to be decades ago when I first moved to Lausanne 35 years ago, but I’m still feeling ok to walk back home. Switzerland is still safer than most other countries even so it changed over time.
Posted: October 24, 2024Pretty safe. I never felt scared about being pushed or put in danger. I've only experienced catcalling when biking. Also be aware if your surroundings when walking at night in flon and riponne (the only place i'd consciously avoid at that time).
Posted: August 20, 2024Lausanne is a really safe city. I would recommend skipping the Riponne area in the dark, where there are a lot of drug addicts asking for money at the bus stops, and Rue de Genève during the night, where there is prostitution. Aside from that, the city is beautiful during the day and in my two years living there I haven't had any trouble at all.
Posted: July 24, 2024There are some places like "rue de Genève" or dake ways under the train station where it's better to not go late. Like everywhere, there are some bad people but in general it's safe. When you use the train late, there is a special police phone number for trains.
Posted: June 17, 2024Lausanne is very safe in the sense that it is a very good lit city. As everywhere in Switzerland, safety measures are high and as a woman, I do feel safe walking around Lausanne at all times. It is also a very beautiful city!
Posted: May 31, 2024Lausanne is generally speaking a very safe city. But like in all places there are neighborhoods that give a more spooky vibe and that I would not recommend visiting at night. They include La Borde, le Tunnel and La Riponne. Such places are known to be home to a lot of drug addicts.
