Its a pretty safe place i would say that there are definitely places that are definitely less safe then others but overall its pretty safe. The centrum is pretty lively both during the day and at night. There is like basically one street full of clubs where most people go to and i would say going clubbing is overal a safe experience. I would recommend going with atleast one other person instead of going alone. But ive never had something happen to me while going out or going home drunk (about a 30-40 min bike ride).

Overall Tilburg is quite a safe city. The public transport is well organized, there is a lot of light in the city center and other than the fact that being a woman is hard and scary sometimes, you don’t have to overly worry in this place. Also, often police, or boa (kind of security police with less qualification) are driving or biking around a lot. Also at night. Both are trained to prevent and handle (sexual) harassment, since it’s a topic with a lot of attention lately. Tilburg is a student city, so you will be seeing quite some drunk loud students in the centre on some nights.
Posted: January 5, 2025Tilburg has a very nice atmosphere. Woman wear all kinds of clothes, and I have never felt like this was a problem. Personally I never felt unsafe in my city. I feel like woman are being respected there.
Posted: July 17, 2024Dear everyone, Tilburg is a very safe city. It is small, cozy and you can cycle anywhere. At night, you could cycle anywhere. Personally, I would stay in the city and I wouldn’t cycle through the two forests. Some people do it and don’t have a problem with it. I personally wouldn’t. Other than that you can go anywhere. You might experience cat calling at night. Personally I don’t mind so much. Have never had a bad thing happen to me, past 7 years!
Posted: June 2, 2024Overall it is pretty safe. I often have to walk home late at night so I have had a couple of experiences with some drunk people that made me feel a bit unsafe. However, those are extremely rare and it was quite easy to disengage and continue on my way. Mostly if somebody talks to me when I'm walking alone they are trying to warn me for rowdy people up ahead (I have to walk through the centre so drunk people on weekend nights are pretty common). All in all, one of the safest cities that I have been in.
