I have lived in Leerdam my whole life. I know there are incidents sometimes, but I have personally never experienced anything bad happening in this town and neither have my friends. I have cycled home from the city centre many times at night and I have never had anything happen to me. I know bad things can happen, but I have never felt unsafe because of that. I would say the chances of getting in a car accident are greater than anything bigger than petty crimes happening here.
