Safety:Safe

Udaipur, fondly known as the 'City of Lakes', is known for its hospitality and rich cultural heritage. Women are generally safe in this city and people are quite helpful here. However, like any other tourist locations, keep a vigilant eye on your belongings and avoid isolated or overly crowded places during the late hours. It is fairly well lit in most tourist points, and the local police are often very helpful. As a tip, dressing modestly could ward off unwanted attention. While it's a safe city, it is always important to heed to the general travel advisory and precautions for overall safety.

Transport:Moderate

While Udaipur is a beautiful city, it can be moderately complex to navigate for solo travelers, especially those unfamiliar with India. Road signs are not always clear and many streets or landmarks might not be recognized by global mapping services. However, locals are often helpful. Knowing a bit of Hindi could significantly aid in communication.

Things to do:Interesting

Udaipur presents a notable fusion of history, culture, and panoramic scenery. Its opulent palaces, mesmerising lakes and vibrant markets make for a memorable travel experience. Women solo travelers can enjoy exploring architectural marvels such as City Palace and Lake Palace, or cherish tranquil moments by Lake Pichola. For more adventurous souls, trekking in the Aravalli ranges is an option. Women's safety is generally good in tourist areas, but like any international travel, exercise personal safety precautions. The city’s local cuisine is another highlight that shouldn't be missed.

Food:Excellent

The food in Udaipur is utterly delightful and impressively diverse, proudly showcasing the rich culinary traditions of Rajasthan alongside an array of international cuisine. Local fare is rich and flavorful, boasting a myriad of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Street food is widely enjoyed, offering a tantalizing taste of authentic Indian cuisine. The city’s dining scene also extends to include various world cuisines, accommodating the gastronomic preferences of global travellers. Whichever way your taste buds lean, the food in Udaipur will not disappoint.

Budget:Affordable

Udaipur is fairly budget-friendly. Accommodation options range from budget guesthouses to luxury hotels suited to any pocket. Street food is delicious, readily available, and affordably priced. Public transportation is also relatively cheap. High costs may come in when visiting tourist attractions, so planning your itinerary and budget in advance can contribute to a cost-effective trip.

Is Udaipur worth visiting?

Couple travel experience

I had visited Udaipur in August 22 with my husband. The weather was quite pleasant. It was raining at times though. We had rented a bike. It's a beautiful city. You will be in complete awe after seeing its vast lakes and magnificent palaces. The people are quite friendly and helpful. I had a good experience overall.
