Is Mumbai safe for solo female travelers?

Mumbai, being one of the more cosmopolitan and bustling cities in India, generally has a safer reputation compared to some other regions. It's culturally diverse and locals are often helpful. During daytime, many areas in Mumbai are busy and you might feel comfortable exploring. However, caution should be taken, especially during late hours in isolated areas. Availing well-recognized transport services or taking cabs rather than public transport can further enhance safety. Standard precautions such as avoiding overt display of money or expensive items, being aware of one's surroundings and keeping in touch with someone regularly regarding whereabouts should be followed. As a woman, being responsible for personal safety should remain paramount.

In general I find this city very safe. But as a foreigner I get too much attention. Some people are trying to take pictures of me. I don’t have experience with public transport, but Uber is very safe. I personally don’t feel ok with walking alone after 11 pm

Mumbai is the city that never sleeps of Asia. My heart got stuck over there. As a woman, you obviously get a lot of attention, a lot of looks. I found the best way to handle it was to not look back, keep walking straight as if you know the way. I never had any problems worse than that.

Mumbai is safe as its a bustling city with many people from around the country who come here to study or work. All people are helpful and willing to help, you just need to ask. Having said that, one should always be alert of their surroundings especially if you are a foreigner as foreigners tend to gather more attention. No need to oblige people with selfies (as I have seen on some YouTube Videos) some antisocial elements may misbehave if you are polite and let them come close to you. So dont be afraid to be firm and refuse them any selfies/ unwanted help or assistance.

Mumbai is safer than a lot of Indian cities, I felt safe in a park at 03:00am as I kept waiting for the local to go back to my stay! I had a decent anda bhurji at 04:00am and took the first local I could find and that was it.

It's safe for most regions and timings. The downside is the crowd is judgmental on a person's clothing and appearance, you'll get a lot of creepy stares if you outfit is revealing from personal experience

Mumbai is generally safe for women, especially in well-known areas — the city truly never sleeps and always feels alive! 🌆 I have lived here for 15 years now and have never faced any issue whether its late night or evening

The city is busy, some parts more than others. So there’s thoroughfare throughout, you’d find traffic at bust junctions even 2am on some nights! Some parts are sketchy, like most cities, but even then, I’d say it’s relatively safer if you are smart about avoiding those
