Is New Delhi Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

New Delhi, as a major city in India, can have some safety issues, especially for solo female travelers. Instances of harassment and mugging have been reported. It is advisable to avoid walking alone at night, dress modestly, and be vigilant in crowded areas. Local transport often gets overcrowded, so private or women-only options are recommended. However, don't be discouraged, because safety can largely depend on one's behavior and precautions. Many female tourists have visited New Delhi and had great experiences, but it's important to stay cautious and aware of your surroundings.

Solo travel

Its safe but not that much if you trust any stranger. Be smart while travelling and save all the helpline numbers. The best place for exploring food options. Lots of heritage and cultural attractions. Easy to commute. Easily find a good company anywhere. Great connectivity from other nstional and international destinations.

Solo travel

There are lots of delicious foods and numerous places to hang out. However, if you're a woman traveling alone, I wouldn't recommend it. It isn't safe... It would be better to go with a group or with someone close to you. Agra is one of the best places.

Family travel

Delhi is the capital city of India. Many people here speak Hindi which is the national language of Indians. Parliament is located here. A good place for tourists too as there are many tourist spots. New Delhi is a good place to visit. The people are very friendly and people were visiting this place most because here there are so many tourist places like Red Fort, loutos temple, Indian Gate ect are present. I recommend that you visit new Delhi once. Thank you.!

Solo travel

I visited Delhi alone and decided to stay in the Connaught Place, recommended by my Indian colleagues. It turned out that the neighborhood was safe and comfortable during my stay. During the day, I explored the city on my own and visited many tourist attractions. In addition, I went on a one-day trip to Agra to admire the beauty of Taj Mahal.

Solo travel

Delhi has many places to see - the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, and Lotus Temple, to name just a few. The quickest way to move from place to place is by metro, taxis take forever unless you are going somewhere nearby. It's good to stay anywhere in central Delhi. I don't recommend hotels under 4 stars. I know the cost might be a bit higher, but it guarantees clean, mosquito-free, and noise-free accommodation.

Delhi is not safe for girls. It would be better to be at home before 10pm. Mainly Cannaught place, gtb nagar, old delhi. Yes old delhi is unsafe most. To visit red fort i would recommend visit at broad daylight

It's mostly safe during the day but you still have to stay very alert. After night unless and until you are with a male you trust i would suggest not being outdoors. Better to stay indoors after 10 pm.

Not very safe for the ladies. Avoid night travel and keep your belongings safe while roaming in the open. Also, don’t trust people easily here, and only trust on people you genuinely know. Stay protected from the pollution level too of the city.

For the most part, Delhi is fine for travellers - central Delhi and South Delhi mostly. If you’re planning a trip those are the areas to stay. The other parts are fine for travelling but not very late at night.

Generally safe if you are aware. Be careful about who you go out with, strangers may not always be trusted. Metros are a safer option over buses. Share location with family or friends while travelling via cabs.

About me

My name is Akansha, which means dreams — and honestly, I think my name chose me. I’ve always been someone who dreams big. I want to experience life, achieve things I once thought were impossible, and most importantly, see the world. I want to travel to every corner of it, collect stories, meet people, experience cultures, and I know that someday, I will. But dreaming wasn’t always easy. I come from a Gurjar family, where girls traditionally aren’t encouraged to step out, work, or travel independently. There were boundaries, expectations, and a very different idea of what a girl’s life should look like. But I’ve never been very good at accepting a life that doesn’t feel like mine. I fought with my parents. I had difficult conversations. I took risks. And eventually, I started working, travelling, exploring, and building a life beyond the boundaries I had grown up with. Every trip became more than just a destination. It became proof that I could choose my own path. I’m still dreaming. Still figuring things out. Still fighting some battles. But now, I know one thing for sure — I was named Akansha for a reason. I am made of dreams. And I’m going to chase every single one of them. 🌍✨
