A very charming and beautiful town in central Mexico, which is worth considering as a stop on your route. I felt very safe there. Many Americans I met said the same, but they warned me against traveling at night. They mentioned several instances of airport buses being stopped, etc., and the passengers being robbed.

Solo travel

I stayed for one and a half day, and then I decided to leave. I felt safe and never had any problems. It's a beautiful, small town, excellent for taking pictures, but quite expensive and very tourist-oriented.

Solo travel

San Miguel was one of my favorite places in Mexico. I didn't find it more expensive than Oaxaca or CDMX. The market in San Miguel was one of my favorites.

Solo travel

San Miguel de Allende is heavily overhyped. There are many magical towns in Mexico that have even more impressive churches, better food, culture, and handicrafts. I don't think it's that incredible compared to other places I've visited in Mexico. I was very disappointed when I went to San Miguel after reading all the reviews and ads. It's beautiful, but no more beautiful than other towns. In my opinion, the city of Guanajuato has much more to offer and it makes a much greater impression in terms of architecture, history, and cuisine.
