We were invited to a wedding, it was really exciting. The people are great! There are a lot of stray dogs, which made me feel a bit unsafe. If you are not outside in the night alone it’s totally fine. There is great nature to check out. One time we went to a place where they farm strawberries. The food there was so delicious and with fresh strawberries. One has to get used to the way they live (sleeping on the floor, peeing into a hole on the ground) but it’s all part of the experience and that’s what makes it so rememberable and exciting. I recommend renting a car.

I guess, it the fairly safe. Because people here have life at night. They go clubbing, party. And I don't see anything happening to them much. Also cab prices are lower than the auto prices if you're travelling more than 8-10kms. So, be safe when travelling in closed spaces like cars.
Posted: June 11, 2025Pune is one of the safer big cities in India, especially for women — but it's still India, so street smarts are key. Daytime? Super chill. You can walk around, explore cafés, parks, museums — no major safety concerns. Nighttime? It's relatively safe in busier areas like Koregaon Park, Viman Nagar, Baner, FC Road, etc. But quiet or poorly lit lanes? Nah. Not worth risking it solo too late. Public transport? Cabs and autos are generally safe, especially with apps like Uber/Ola (always share trip with someone though). Buses? Can be crowded and uncomfortable, not ideal at night. Locals? Most are respectful and kind, especially in the younger or student crowd. But yes, occasional creeps exist — like anywhere. So in short: Pune is safer than most Indian cities, but not a “walk-anywhere-alone-at-3AM” kind of place.
