About me

Hiii! I'm Brazilian and have been living in The Netherlands for 4 years :) I share a flat with my (Swedish) girlfriend and we often travel together. I'm a political economist with interest in sustainability and feminist theory/literature/organizing! I'm not super much the party type but you can always convince me to go to a costume party or karaoke. I am super affectionate and love sharing moments with friends, old or new I do quite a lot of hitchhiking and couchsurfing and that's my usual preferred form of traveling! I live up to the latina standard, which means I am super warm and get a lot of energy from socializing and meeting new people.

About me

Hi everyone! I am Ylvali, a 22 year old from Sweden currently studying in The Hague. I love to meet new people and to be surrounded by light hearted and curious people, especially other women! I travel to learn about the different ways life can be experienced and this is what I seek here as well. I find travelling infinitely more interesting when you have locals around to peak into what they like and hate in a city, how they socialize and meet their friends, what their favourite spots to eat are, and everything in between. As I’d like to think that liking to travel is not a personality trait, my other hobbies consist of all things creative- I paint, draw, make jewellery, do graphics and more. And also designing and occasionally giving out tattoos to friends but that’s a story for another day. I also love reading and writing and going to the cinemas, especially smaller independent cinemas! If you’re open to going on long walks that will take double the estimated time because we can’t stop talking and laughing, swimming in lakes and waterfalls, chasing sunsets, we will probably get along well!!! I would love to connect and visit or host you:)

About me

Hii, I'm Yasemin. I am originally from Turkey but I have been living in the Hague, the Netherlands for the past 4 years, to pursue a bachelor's degree in international relations :) I speak Turkish, English, Russian, French (though I spoke it quite well in the past, my French has deteriorated so much, so i can only hold basic conversations now :")) and also am currently learning Dutch. I enjoy traveling to different places and meeting different people wherever I go, especially through hitchhiking and couchsurfing :) I like how this way of traveling gives me opportunities to meet and talk to people that I would never get a chance to meet otherwise. I like talking about history, video games, techno, going on meaningles walks around the city with my friends, and just chill hang outs in general. I would say I am pretty low maintenance. Periodically, I pick up random hobbies just to drop them after a few months, so I wouldn't say I have a set thing I love to do lol. I hate capitalism, fascism, ignorance. I guess apathy in general. I am happy to host whoever happens to find themselves in the Hague! Even though I am not Dutch, I am confident in my ability to tour guide so ill give you a tour if im available :)

Solo travel

I stayed in an Airbnb in Voorburg the connection to The Hague was amazing and the prices were a little bit cheaper. It's also a good location for trips to Leiden, Gouda or Delft. If you want more of an experience beach go to Scheveningen with the bars, restaurants and stuff to do and if you like it a bit more quiet visit Kijkduin. Otherwise the food is amazing. Take the time of the day and do an afternoon tea. I liked the one at Blossom or at Scallywags. Definitely try an Indonesian Restaurant in Den Haag. For Example Pemprk Elysha in Voorburg, Toko Frederik or D'Javas. But there are so many more good ones. Otherwise we liked Palmir with Uyghur food or Reef Al Yemen. Bøg is great if you want to have something a bit more expensive but also really good. Also El Mercqt for Tapas in an more higher price segment. Somos an Peruian Restaurant makes a great ceviche and Sarban has great Afghan food. If you want Georgian Cousine Go to Scheveningen and visit Iberia. For ice go to Het Ijskabinet the waiting is worth it or to Piet. Breakfast was great at Pommagrante, Blossom, Appeltje Etje or Bartine. Krishna has good Indian cuisine and Xi'an, Full Moon and Fat Klewies are great for Chinese cuisine. Generally I would really recommend Den Haag for the food. If you like art, you should visit the Mauritshuis, if not I would let it be and go to Escher. Make photos of the Peace palace but I think you can skip the museum. Make a stop in the Haagse Bosch for some nature and relaxation. Maybe put in a visit to one of the gems surrounding Den Haag. I felt quite safe in Den Haag. Like everywhere be a little vary of pickpockets and keep an eye on your drinks. If your around for new year's stay in the city and skip neighbourhoods like Schilderswijk and keep more to the quite parts.

Family travel

Safety depends on the neighborhood. I loved food courts, especially the one near De Pier where you can enjoy panoramic views. I recommend visiting Scheveningen area and Peace Palace in the city center. I loved drinking coffee near the canals and in the Koekamp park where you can find animals like deers and squirrels.
