Winchester is a relatively small town in rural Virginia. It has a nice downtown area and a private University in town, too. I think it is pretty safe, maybe just be aware of your surroundings if you are intoxicated out at night, like anywhere else.
Posted: February 6, 2025Winchester is a safe city with good walkable areas. The downtown walking mall has some buskers, but no one has pressured me or followed me for money. There are nice parks and walking trails that are lit and well-marked.

I am a traveler trying to learn and connect more with the places I visit! I love to read, be in nature, practice yoga, rock climbing, dance, and spend time talking with friends and strangers alike!

I'm a vegan English teacher. I've been traveling around the world for a decade now, and I'm starting to slow down and set up a permanent place in Portugal. Sometimes solo travel, but often I'm with my husband.
