How safe is Tulsa?

Tulsa is an over all great place destination wise, but the crime rate and lack of public safety are concerning. There are many things that keep me from going out alone and especially at night. lots of crime.

Moderately safe. Some higher crime levels in certain areas, but typically pretty middle of the road. I live in midtown tulsa, which is a pretty safe area. The biggest concern is homelessness, however, 9/10 homeless people I have had first hand experience with have been totally pleasant and harmless.
