The majority of crimes are car theft and the occasional shootings. There are parts of downtown that can be sketchy but just like any other city. There are cops outside the main strip of clubs on the weekends surveying the area. Pickpocketing is low or non existent. I have been fortunate not to experience anything bad in my hometown.

It really depends on where you go, I’d stay away from downtown alone at night as there are many drug users there, but most other places you should be fine honestly!! It’s not a very walkable city. We have a bus system but I’m not sure how good it is.
Posted: June 26, 2025Overall relatively safe. A few bad actors in the downtown area and some of the suburbs. I feel safe taking the bus, hiking alone in most areas, and chatting with strangers. There are a few places I don’t go alone - specifically on centennial trail.
