Lubbock is overall very safe. I’ve never been out past dark by myself, I honestly don’t think you should ever put yourself in that situation no matter what city you’re in. Most people are very nice and helpful. I would keep in mind that it is a city in West Texas, so there’s lots of conservative sentiment here. Not a bad place to be in short term :)
