Greenville is a small and safe city. There are areas, like any other city, that are more commercial and industrial but the level of crime here is quite low. Most crime is petty crime like someone checking your car doors to see if they're locked and if they aren't they might take the spare change out of your cup holder. Because it is warm there are unhoused people that can handle sometimes but they are harmless

Greenville is a lovely little city. There is minimal crime, especially in the downtown area. I’ve lived here many years and never experience harassment, theft or harm. There is a minimal homeless population in the Greenville area.

There’s the occasional crime or gun violence because it’s the South, but it’s usually domestic disputes. I’ve never personally witnessed or known anybody who’s been attacked here, it’s a very small but nice town. Downtown at night can be a little bit sketchy but nowhere near as dangerous as a bigger city is in the daytime.

Most of Greenville is fairly safe, but there are less-safe areas. West Greenville (especially close to St Francis Downtown Hospital) is not a great area. For the most part I feel safe walking alone in the city, but less so after dark.

Pretty dang safe. Truly. I think I’m always concerned alone after dark…that’s just common sense being female though - and my mom drilling that into me as a kid after watching Unsolved Mysteries for years. 😆 Greenville is definitely one of the safer cities, but still - be aware. We are a major stop for the trucking industry along I-85, which means truck stops are sketchy (I-85 is a route for human trafficking from Northeast USA to Southeast USA according to regional humanitarian groups). So I’m just always aware at gas stations along the highway (though I’ve never seen anything personally - I trust the people who work the scene). Downtown is lovely and gorgeous. I don’t do the club scene or the bar scene, so I can’t speak to being harassed there…and I’m 40 (and while still gorgeous 😘), I don’t usually worry about getting hit on or a target for rape in my cargo joggers and tee shirt. 😜
Posted: October 27, 2024I think Greenville has become better in safety. It used to be a dangerous area - especially downtown - at night. Filled with the homeless & just sketchy stuff. Obviously it’s not 100% gone, but it’s definitely gotten better!!
