Gainesville is a suburb outside of Atlanta. It’s about an hour drive from Atlanta. Since I have moved here a year ago I have not expected any crime or heard of it from any of my peers or neighbors. As in all locations, women should take caution traveling alone, especially at night. However, as long as you avoid sketchy places at night most public are completely safe.

Gainesville, Fl is pretty safe. It has its seedy areas as every city does. For the most part as long as you mind your business you’ll be fine. There’s a lot of friendly and helpful people here. After dark you probably want to be with a friend in the downtown areas.

Generally, safe area. You will feel 100% safe at night in the downtown area, anywhere where there is hotels it is a nice area and safe. Everything is within 15 minutes of most hotels. Lake area is also very safe.
Posted: May 2, 2024There are some parts of town that are safe and quiet. But other parts are not safe. The political climate in the state and the fact that guns are legal makes me feel unsafe. Downtown is safe and walkable.
