It really depends on where you are- city areas are typically considered less safe while rural or suburban areas are considered safer in the city. On the whole, its safer than most cities in the US, but you should never leave your personal items unattended or they will be stolen.
Posted: January 22, 2025Some areas are safer than others. Highland park and south side are moderately safer than the north side. Suburbs are pretty safe. But I wouldn’t walk alone anywhere at night in the city. Use the buddy system.
Posted: September 7, 2024There are a lot of sketchy places in Birmingham but you just have to be in a group of people to feel safe. I would absolutely not feel safe by myself as a girl walking in downtown Birmingham. Just be with people!
