Uniquely
Athens is a college small city. Mostly everything is geared towards the university on a local level. Otherwise there are citizens that have lived here awhile. It consists of a variety of ages. There are festivals scheduled year round— no beaches other than a man made one— bars are in small downtown scene and it is monitored by cameras. Yes there has been crime and violence however not at the extent of larger populated cities. It overall decent place to live and visit.

Athens is safe if you got friends and people you know to hang out with. You have to avoid some places at night if you are alone. For example, places like omonia or metaxourgio are considered to be dangerous especially in the night because there are people doing drugs or people who could attack you.
