Whitehaven is generally a very safe town and locals are extremely friendly and interested in people coming to visit. They want to show off the best of the town and have a real community spirit. The town can get rowdy on an evening around the pubs and clubs, and fights/drugs are common but the risk to someone outside those groups is rare. I’ve walked alone late at night and not experienced any trouble over the past 2 years of living here. I cannot speak on behalf of ethnic minorities, but friends of mine have sadly experienced racism before on nights out. I would advise to stick in a larger group to avoid unwanted attention if you want to experience the nightlife.

Hello, I’m Alice, I’m 25 and currently live in Whitehaven, Cumbria. I’m originally from York and visit my parents back there quite frequently. I also went to university in Newcastle and it’s one of my favourite cities :)
