How safe is Newbury?

Newbury has some really nice areas, but things lately have been getting worse in the town centre e.g. muggings, shoplifting etc. Walking alone in the dark is fine in some areas but other areas should definitely be avoided. During the day it can be lovely, but from about 6pm onwards you should be a bit more careful in the town centre

Newbury is pretty safe!! The only thing I'd warn people about is potentially being robbed in more deprived areas ( robbing do not usually occur with a weapon) also on nights where there's been racing (Newbury is known for its horse racecourse) people can be a bit rowdy as many are drunk. Overall quite a safe place tho. :)
