It's a safe city. Both young and old people out for walks or biking at all hours. Of course, there is crime in every city, hence why I would never say it's 100% safe. You never know. But as my mother likes to say: sense in the head. Roughly translating to: don't do anything unnecessary or stupid. Public transports are great, walking in dark alleys at night, maybe not so much!
Posted: June 27, 2024Kalmar is a place where you can feel quite safe, I stayed at our family friends place and everywhere was near to everywhere . It was october and i wore a bit revealing dress and went our for a walk, no one made me feel unsafe. There were times I went out with our Pet dog and walked in the forest everyone is nice and they say hi to you and smile. It was quite normal pricewise. But be careful all the shops shut down before 4 pm!
