Depending on where you are it is very safe. I live in the city but not in the most central area. I have never experienced anything in those places that would worry me but there is a lot of gang related violence taking place in and around the city. Mostly in the suburbs so if you don’t go there you will be fine. Most people behave pretty well, and you’ll more likely experience people being rude and ignoring you rather than coming on too strong. I feel very safe in Stockholm, so don’t but into all the things media report about the violence. If you are not in the wrong crowds, you won’t experience it.
Posted: November 10, 2024Stockholm is a modern city in one of the most equal countries in the world. The city core has a high tempo, but most people are happy to stay and help you find your way as long as they are not running late for something important. I have lived here my entire life and plan to live here in the future as I love the people, culture, and the possibility of getting across town easily and cheaply. There are some places that are a bit less safe than the average but these are not touristy at all and very easy to avoid.

Generally very safe, at least in most areas. It is true that gang violence has increased recently, but you are very unlikely to be affected as a tourist. Rare to be catcalled or harassed in public as well.
Posted: September 24, 2024In my experience Stockholm is generally a very safe city for women. Public transport is very safe. I've hardly ever experienced harassment on the street. I am a white, heterosexual woman, therefore it's a little bit difficult for me to write about safety for women who identify as LGBTQ, wear religious clothing, are black etc.
Posted: September 10, 2024I often go running alone at night and have never felt unsafe. There are some neighborhoods that are less safe, but the downtown area has always felt OK in my opinion. Like most cities, you just need to know which parks or areas to avoid at night.
Posted: September 1, 2024I would say Stockholm is fairly safe. The reason I'm sometimes a little worried is because you can always be unlucky. I've never had anything too worrisome happen to me. Avoid if possible walking around alone at night time, as a precaution.
Posted: August 26, 2024I feel safe during both the day and night in Stockholm, however I’m quite masculine which I think makes me feel more safe than a lot of other women. I’m also white. But I rarely if ever am bothered by unknown men.
Posted: August 19, 2024It has some areas in the suburbs that are known for gang criminality and shooting have happened outside of these areas. But it is always targeted at the people involved so I still feel rather safe in the non-affected areas.
Posted: August 12, 2024I always feel safe walking after sunsets or taking the public transportation. I would walk in parks alone after dark though. It’s common sense not walking I dark parks or to visit some suburbs in the middle of the night. Then I would be a bit scared. It’s always safe to walk on streets with lights in city centre. If you want you cane take a taxi or public transportation. That is safe.

Stockholm is full of nature. If you have a tent with you, I definitely recommend staying in a nature reserve. There are many places with beautiful sunsets. You should definitely get "Too Good To Go". You can get a lot of food there for a reasonable price. The best surprise bags are available at the espresso house and Lindquist's Pastry in Stockholm.

I recently visited Stockholm and had an amazing time! Here are some highlights from my trip: **Safety:** I felt very safe throughout my stay in Stockholm. The city is well-maintained, and the people are friendly and helpful. **Things to Do:** I highly recommend exploring the various museums and historical sites. The Vasa Museum is a must-see, showcasing a preserved 17th-century ship. Also, take a stroll through Gamla Stan, the old town, which is full of charming streets and shops. If you have time, visit Djurgården for beautiful parks and attractions. **Food and Restaurants:** The food in Stockholm is delicious! I enjoyed visiting an Asian food cafe in a shopping mall, which offered a variety of tasty dishes. I also had a delightful experience at a local cafe, enjoying coffee and a traditional Swedish bun. The food scene here is diverse and caters to all tastes. **Budget:** I spent around 300 EUR for my 5-day trip, which was quite reasonable. This included food, transport, and some shopping. **Accommodation:** I stayed at a friend's place, which made my trip more economical. However, there are plenty of hotels and hostels available to suit all budgets. **Transport:** Getting around Stockholm is very convenient. The public transport system is efficient, clean, and easy to navigate. I mainly used buses and the metro, which were both reliable and timely. **People:** The locals are very kind and helpful. I always felt welcome and had no trouble asking for directions or recommendations. **Itinerary:** I spent my days exploring the city, visiting museums, and enjoying local cafes and restaurants. I also made time for some shopping and leisurely walks in the parks. Overall, Stockholm is a beautiful city with a rich cultural heritage and a welcoming atmosphere. I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable travel experience.
