A very safe city; historically, there has been some criminal activity related to drugs but the rates are dropping in the town and a visitor would not notice at all. Thefts and the similar is very uncommon.

I would describe it as pretty safe. As with any city it depends on where in the city you are, however I very rarely feel unsafe. Although I do think it is safe to walk alone at night, it can be a little scary and if you are unlucky you may experience some uncomfortable situations. But all in all I would say it’s a safe city and if you’re with a friend, they will usually leave you alone.
Posted: January 1, 2025I would say fairly safe. You can go out alone as a woman, even after dark and don't have to be afraid. Public transportation is sparse on late evenings or at night, but still safe for women. What might happen is that someone who's had a bit too much alcohol (or other substances) might try to talk to you. Risk is higher if you are young or good-looking. At night, especially on workdays, there is not much people around, since everything is closed, and you might feel uneasy. Daytime is very safe, any day. Lots of women everywhere.
Posted: March 20, 2024It’s good transportation and not super big either. If you stay in the city you will be close to everything and there will not be any crazy stuff at night. I have walked home by myself late at night many times.

Hi! I'm a Swede - originally from another city, so could give you advice for that - who has also lived in Germany a longer time and briefly in Iceland. I am a certified language teacher but please be mindful that I am not here to provide language training:) The purpose of me being here is to find advice and possibly also meetups when solo travelling. If you are looking for the same thing you have come to the right person:) I'm very calm and a non-smoker and non-drinker. Please let me know if you need a place to stay!
