Is Gothenburg Safe for Women? Crime Rate in Gothenburg

Pretty safe, avoid "nordstan" at night perhaps, mostly drunks to avoid at night. Pubs are pretty safe with friends. "Andra lång" street by the tram station "järntorget" has really fun pubs an nightlife but most things close at 2.

Gothenburg is the safest city I have ever experienced. The city itself is super calm, people respect each other and nobody rushes anywhere. The streets are light, wide and 95% of the city is lightened in the dark.

If you stay in the city centre your fine. It’s a little bit different for some suburbs, but I don’t think a tourist would go to them anyway 😜 Obviously you have to be mindful of your safety wherever you go, but Sweden is generally a very safe place for women and I feel lucky to live here in that regard.

The Gothenburg is a safe, clean, comfortable and respectful city. I have been living here for a one year. I loved this city. They value children, women and LGBT individuals. They respect them. It's a bit cold in the north but it's not unbearable. I recommend bringing warm clothes even in summer.

I feel really safe here and nothing have ever happened to me but you always heard story’s about what happened with other people so your still have to be careful. Gothenburg have some criminality in the suburbs but in the city you don’t notice it.

Over all very safe. Not really worried about anything bad happening to me caused by someone else or anyone causing me harm. Walking around alone at night is not really an issue in most areas of the city, but of course there are some areas where you should be more careful, and as always you should be cautious of your surroundings at all times anyways.

Gothenburg is very safe! Sweden in general is very safe. There are people around almost all the time during evening and night and everyone is very helpful. Pickpockets are next to none in gbg as well

Very safe in general but just in case, you shouldn't walk alone through the forest or sketchy areas in the middle of the night. Using public transportation is the safest way to travel during dark hours.

I have lived here for over 5 years and I've never felt unsafe! Gothenburg is a safe city for female travellers and its easy to get around by yourself. People are very kind and trustworthy, they are always eager to help.

It's pretty safe, there is crime but not a lot. The most dangoures are gang shootings but they're targeted at other gangs. There is a risc of ending up in the cross fire but you're have to be really unlucky.

It was very cozy and lovely. Visited some museums and walked around the city and hiked to the Bergsjön in the morning. There was a beautiful lake and view to the whole city. Met some friends and they showed me around.

Gothenburg is my hometown. Everywhere downtown is really safe, I even used to walk home alone from night clubs in the middle of the night and I have never felt unsafe.
