Over all very safe. Not really worried about anything bad happening to me caused by someone else or anyone causing me harm. Walking around alone at night is not really an issue in most areas of the city, but of course there are some areas where you should be more careful, and as always you should be cautious of your surroundings at all times anyways.

Gothenburg is very safe! Sweden in general is very safe. There are people around almost all the time during evening and night and everyone is very helpful. Pickpockets are next to none in gbg as well
Posted: June 23, 2024Very safe in general but just in case, you shouldn't walk alone through the forest or sketchy areas in the middle of the night. Using public transportation is the safest way to travel during dark hours.

It's pretty safe, there is crime but not a lot. The most dangoures are gang shootings but they're targeted at other gangs. There is a risc of ending up in the cross fire but you're have to be really unlucky.
Posted: June 6, 2024It’s a generally safe city. Don’t go too far outside of town and you will feel very safe during your visit. The public transport is always good to use, it’s often even safer than walking. Even though walking is fairly safe even during the late hours of the night.
Posted: May 31, 2024Gothenburg is very safe despite what the news says. The places where shootings and such have been taken place the past few years concerns gangs and not the civilians. As long as you are not in any type of a criminal gang you are very safe, night as day.

It is one of Swedens biggest cities, so of course, as a woman, one always has to be a bit cautious depending on the situation. But overall, it's definitely a peaceful and charming city with friendly people.

It was very cozy and lovely. Visited some museums and walked around the city and hiked to the Bergsjön in the morning. There was a beautiful lake and view to the whole city. Met some friends and they showed me around.
Posted: July 24, 2024Gothenburg is my hometown. Everywhere downtown is really safe, I even used to walk home alone from night clubs in the middle of the night and I have never felt unsafe.

Adventure seeker, cultural explorer, and lover of meaningful connections! I'm a curious traveler who believes the best way to experience a place is through the eyes of its locals. Whether it’s trying new cuisines, exploring hidden gems, or exchanging stories over a cup of tea, I’m always eager to learn and share experiences. While I’m currently exploring as a guest, I’m equally excited to host fellow travelers in the future. I can’t wait to create a welcoming space where we can exchange stories, inspire one another, and build a community of trust and adventure!
