Östersund is a nice little town with lots of outdoor activities and amazing food. It is very safe - I once lost my wallet and a nice lady returned it to my home with all items still inside. You will be perfectly safe walking home alone at night or staying out for longer.
Posted: September 18, 2025It’s generally a safe town that I as a solo traveler would be comfortable with going to. The town is rich with bars and restaurants, the night life is alright, but not a lot of places to go. At night around the bus station, I would not stay alone.
