Vitoria-Gasteiz is a very calm city, generally you can walk anywhere from the city centre and it has a lot of "red roads" for cycling. I moved here to study at University 10 years ago and I always found it very comfortable and safe, even when I went out with my friends at night.
Posted: May 28, 2025It is overall a safe city, as any other place there are some blackspots that are more dangerous, especially at night. During daytime you may suffer verbal harassement if you go sexy and alone (because sexism) but that's the worst that may happen and most people will help you.

Really safe city, but unfortunately like in everywhere else in the world there have been a few cases of rape and assault, especially at night being alone. So please beware during that time and of drunk people. Also always make sure to lock your bike!

Irati, named as the forest in my profile pic, I am a nature lover since I was born. I live in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, but I'm currently trying to do a research visitation to the UK. I love learning new languages and meeting new people.

Hi! I'm Dania and I'm from San Sebastián but I'm currently living in Vitoria-Gasteiz because of university. I'm new here so I'm just seeing how things go.
