Madrid is a very safe city. I live alone as a young woman and have never felt unsafe as a woman going out at night, walking alone etc. only thing would be a slight risk of pick pockets in crowded touristy areas, but not on the level of many other European cities
Posted: November 15, 2024I think is safe enough. As in everywhere else, you have to be careful where you go as there’s more dangerous and there’s safer places. You might get yelled at by the homeless locals, or you may get catcalled by men, but thats all. You have to be very unlucky to get robed or attacked. Even less probably murdered or kidnapped. I think the most touristic areas of the south can be dangerous if you go by yourself, but they can be okay if you go with a friend, even if you’re all girls.

Valencia is safe, as are most cities in Europe. You can walk alone at night without being really worried. It's safe, but don't go walking around areas in the suburbs like barrio del Carmen at 3am as you're gonna have problems. Just use common sense

Spain is safe. Depending on the areas you visit, it's important to be informed, especially in vulnerable areas. There are very safe cities. It is important to know about the country and understand what you need before moving from one city to another.

This is one of the safest towns I’ve ever lived in. There is absolutely zero crime or sketchy people. The town is primarily older people and young families. Kids are always playing in town without their parents and there is never an issue. I go running in the dark in the mornings and have never had an issue
Posted: November 9, 2024La Seu is a very small village. It feels really safe in general, as there’s not lots of problems. In terms of going out at night, like everywhere, as a woman there’s a risk, but you can go out alone, no problem

I love I can walk home alone at night (in my home town I could never do it)… I feel really safe in the city. I feel really safe in the city at all hours because there are always other people around. This is in the city center, the outskirts probably don't work the same way.

It's fairly safe depending on where you are. I'm in the Eixample area and I'm not worried. Barcelona is known for pick pocketing so you have to try not to act like a total tourist and just be mindful of your surroundings. I haven't felt harassed by males and I've been here for about two months.

Overall Barcelona is an extremely safe place to travel solo as a woman. I’ve never felt unsafe anywhere I’ve been in the city. It’s unheard of to have physical violence here in general. The only thing to worry about is petty theft - pick pockets normally. This is known to happen in Barcelonetta beach and in Raval neighborhoods. Just generally don’t be stupid with your belongings - I have never gone out of my way to be overly protective of my things, and I’ve been fine. The “bad neighborhood” that people say you should not visit is called Raval, but personally, I lived there for a while and it’s nothing to be afraid of. It’s just lower income immigrant communities - mostly families. I think people that say don’t go there are just being a bit racist lowkey 😅. You’ll find the best south asian food in the city there!!! Houses on Airbnb are also a lot cheaper there. Highly recommend. Overall, Barcelona scores a 10/10 in safety physically, and an 8/10 in safety for your belongings. Have fun!

Ana
Hi, I'm Ana. I was a sociologist and a Spanish teacher until COVID, the pandemic came with a completely different job which I would have never applied for if I had better options. Surprisingly, I like it a lot and it gives me exactly what I've been longing for: time and enough money to travel. I work in England but live in Granada, Spain. So between working and traveling at the end I only spend like 4 month per year in Granada. But while I'm there I will be available for anything you need: hosting, meeting up, showing you around...
