Is Spain Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Spain is generally a safe country for solo female travelers. Both urban areas and rural regions have low levels of crime. It is always prudent to take basic precautions, such as avoiding poorly lit and deserted areas late at night, keeping a close eye on personal belongings in crowded places, and not sharing your personal details or itineraries with strangers. Public transportation and taxis are usually safe and reliable. However, like anywhere else, incidents can occur, so staying alert and using common sense is important.

Barcelona, Group travel

The whole city has very interesting histories and hearing about them is a must in mg opinion. There are many must visit places for example the gothic part of the city, but some places need to be avoided. I didn’t really enjoyed the barceloneta, i wish we found better beaches but we didn’t want to search.

I went to Barcelona 3 times now and I cańt wait for August to go there again! I went there August last year and it was amazing. Of Course the city is stuffed with tourists so in a lot of spots its pretty expensive but you just need to know where to go! The city is a international hotspot with a a enegetic atmosphere. Its amazing!

Barcelona, Family travel

My husband and I came to Barcelona in May. I walked around a lot alone because he was working, and I can definitely say that the University of Barcelona is a wonderfully beautiful place. Admission is free, and it's truly beautiful. I also went to the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Design Museum, and the Museum of Art of Catalonia. Among the free things to do, I can also recommend visiting Massimo Dutti in the center, on the main shopping street. It's simply incredible, a historic building, and...

Spain, Group travel

Spain took its place in my heart forever! I traveled with a friend and we spent about a month there. The overall impression of the country is very positive. Local people are very friendly and kind. We visited 8 towns and cities: Salamanca, Segovia, Toledo, Burgos, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Valladolid. I liked each of them. The architecture and nature are breathtaking. I would really love to travel again someday

This area is pretty safe overall. The area is composed of small villages where everyone knows each other, therefore it is not usual to have any problems. Villages are walkable both during the day and during night.

It's alright but there are some creeps that during the day they approach you.. moreover there are like bands and dangerous people but I've never been robbed or anything I promise it is not that bad. It all depends on the time of the day and the area you are going to.

Barcelona

The biggest crime in Barcelona is pick pocketing so definitely watch your bag and your phone. Always wear it near your body and the are plenty of shops where you can buy a chain for your phone. But if you don't bother any drunk or homeless people, it's safe to walk around Barcelona.

Palma

I traveled around the entire island of Palma de Mallorca by bus for several days and the experience was very safe at all times. Both public transport and the tourist and residential areas feel calm, even at night. The only thing I noticed was the presence of street vendors in the center of Palma, especially around the cathedral, but at no time did I see anything unusual, harassment, or insecurity. I felt comfortable moving around on my own.
