Madrid is very safe if we’re talking about serious crimes. On the other part, as a big city its relatively possible to get robbed in crowed place such as the metro or in touristic locations. Because for that you should be aware of your things in those situations.
Posted: April 5, 2025Madrid is a safe City, there is a lot of people at the streets in the City centre so you can feel safe. If you shout or run you will find someone so close to you. At night you have to be careful if you are alone but there is no problem if you are controling your suroundings
Posted: April 1, 2025I felt safe walking aroud alone by day and in the early evening when it started to get dark. In the Metro, train Station and also in the street I felt sometime a bit unconfortable, because of homeless people, but Overall I think its a nice and safe City to discover alone as woman especially by day, but you have to tage care of your personal things especially by the El Rastro market at sundays.

Madrid is definitely safe, but as a woman I cannot say that you will be 100% safe, so be always careful, if you can go with a friend at night much better, but if you can’t, always go on the crowded streets and carefully💗 Always be safe with thiefs, it’s not as bad as in Barcelona, but there’s always the ones that take things from you without you even realizing. The police will help you so always call 112 with anything. And at least if you are part of the LGTBIQ+ community theres more rights than in other parts💗🏳️🌈
Posted: March 8, 2025As any big city, if you move around residential or touristic places its safe. I never had any bad experience and I have lived in Madrid for many years. Just to avoid potential dangerous situations, I would try to avoid walking in small and empty streets at night, for instance in Lavapiés and Carabanchel.

Madrid is a safe city, but you have to be careful in some areas, such as Lavapiés, Vallecas or even the centre of Madrid at night. Be aware of pick pockets, especially on the subway. Whenever you go partying, take your drink always with you so that no one spikes it with drugs.
Posted: February 25, 2025Madrid is really a safe city. I started to work here and came late to home, and never felt in danger. You always see people around. Maybe in the metro, when is overcrowed u should be careful, but mostly is really a beautiful city

I would say that Madrid is really safe. Of course you have to be careful with your things, especially in the center of the city (pickpockets). It’s not strange to being cat called, and you have to be a bit careful about men in general (especially tourists/drunk men I would say imo). When it’s already dark and there’s no one in the street it’s when you will feel more “fear”. But in the daylight you will feel very safe I think. Hope this helps!

I really enjoyed Madrid, I travelled solo and stayed there for two weeks in february as an au-pair by a host family. I had some free time, so I got around alone very often. I would recommend to travel a bit later maybe in spring or May, so its not to hot, but everyrthink is growing and the winter works are finished, so you can enjoy the lovely parks and green areas more than I. I also recommend to visist a Flamenco show, the el rastro marked (but take care of your personal stuff), a walk to the most importand sights like the palace, the via grande and if you have more time a day Trip to toledo or San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

I felt really safe in Madrid. I went there in april and a lot of the locals like to make a little small talk (They also remind/warn you to keep an eye on your bag/camera when walking in busy areas). I had a lot of late night and early morning walks alone and felt pretty safe. Just keep an eye out for yourself and your stuff. There are alot of homeless people (most of them leave you alone but some of them come begging for money or food, even when you're sitting at a terrace) but as long as you don't give them to much attention they will leave.

I'm basically interested in so many things so I've never have time enough in this life to learn and do all of them! Now I'm not that young but since I skip my job as a lawyer I'm doing what I should have done when I was in my twenties!
