I always feel safe walking home at night in Madrid! There are enough people that speak English, so there is always someone nearby who can help in case of emergency. The metro is amazing and super safe.

Madrid is extremely safe. You can walk really late at night feeling confident that nothing will happen to you. Police officers are very professional and helpful if you need information. People are willing to help you and there's a strong sense of community

It is very safe, specially downtown, even at night, all night. You do need to be careful of pickpockets (all day) and drunk/drugged people (nighttime). But I feel safe walking alone inside of the M-30 (highway that surrounds Madrid), outside of it, you need to be careful at nighttime.
Posted: June 5, 2025The area where I live is pretty safe, but I live more in the countryside rather than in the center of Madrid. There are strange men but as in any other place, the positive thing is that the center is usually crowded, but try to avoid Madrid Sur or places known for not being safe

I think Madrid is a very big city in which safety depends on the neighbourhood. I feel like it is a very safe place, overall Spain cities are safe for women, but horrible things still happen. Going alone in the night is not great but I do it very very often and I'm more than fine, only once I experienced someone calling me.

I was not alone in Madrid so that helps, but it’s safe and queer friendly !!! so we like that. However it’s a biiig city with an important night activity so I’ll recommend to be careful if you go back home walking in the night… as everywhere els, I know

I stayed for 4 nights. The city center was always very safe and I was able to visit places both in daytime and night time. There were homeless people around but they didn’t harass. I joined a walking tour and almost got pickpocketed but the guide noticed and warned me. All good besides that
Posted: June 7, 2025Madrid is a city where I felt very safe all the time, even as a solo female traveler. there is also a lot of activity to do, lot of museums to visit and it’s possible to visit them for free on certain day which can be useful if you are on a budget. Lots of parcs and rest area in the city as well:)
