Is Bilbao safe for solo female travelers?

Bilbao is generally a very safe city for solo female travelers. Criminal activities are relatively low, and the locals are friendly and helpful. It is important, however, to always prioritize personal safety. Be cautious with your belongings and avoid walking alone at night in poorly lit or deserted areas.

How safe is Bilbao for solo female travelers?

Solo travel

I have to say, Bilbao is amazing, both for its people and the food. The cost here is affordable, and the people are very friendly. This is not a commercial city, so l recommend planning for three days and two nights if you want somewhere to chill for solo travel. Definitely recommend it!

Group travel

I went to Bilbao this summer with my friends and it was a wonderful experience! I’d recommend you to go during the last week of august, because you will be able to enjoy the local festivity. I felt safe, especially in the more central neighborhoods.

In most areas Bilbao is super safe. I travel alone as a girl and Bilbao is safe both day and night. There is one neighbourhood that is a bit more unsafe though and that are the streets around San Francisco. So I wouldn’t go there alone, especially at night. If google maps takes you there, take another way.

Bilbao is a really safe place. Maybe in the town are little places that's better to avoid at night, but nothing to important. You have to be a little bit careful maybe at night, but it's totally a safe place.

If you have a local friend, there will be no problems. But, as we all know, it really depends where you go, try to be where the gruops of people are, don't go and discover mysterious streets. But overall, it is perfect.

Bilbao is overall a safe city. Getting mugged could happen but its not that big of a problem (doesn't happen that often) by keeping an eye in a moderated way, everything should be fine. There are some neighbourhoods that people tend to ignore at night (as it could be san Francisco: still the principal Street is filled with police officers 24/7) I don't know much more about nightlife and during the day I feel totally safe. There's always a possibility of finding someone that behaves in a weird way (I got followed with a friend once) but its not common not dangerous. I understand it as an exception.
