I would say even thought the patriarchy affects us everywhere, Tarragona is a safe option, specially compared to Barcelona, to visit and enjoy the climate, learn about some roman history as well as catalan culture without being worried constantly about someone trynna sell you overpriced drugs or about constant catcalling. I have barely had any scary experiences in my two years living here, as someone who grew up in Barcelona city. Also the beach here is cleaner and less packed ;)
