We traveled through Mexico as a couple back then, starting in Mexico City and flying to the Pacific coast ✈️. From there, we crossed the country overland through Oaxaca 🚌, Palenque 🚌, Bacalar 🚌, and finally Isla Holbox 🚌 in the Caribbean. We started at the beginning of December and traveled for a month — Mexico is absolutely beautiful, and I would go back again in a heartbeat, even on my own!

We had a lot of fun. It was a bit of a different vacation for us as we didn't have a car so we had to stick to walking distance from where we were staying....with kids that get "tired" quick lol. The beaches are gorgeous and always a good time if you have beach bums like me. Even in November, it was warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities. Safety was never a concern for us but my husband does speak Spanish fluently so that helped! Tourist center of Playa del Carmen IS expensive compared to other areas of Mexico but that's to be expected.

Mazunte, Mexico, makes me feel both peaceful and alive. It’s a small coastal town with a relaxed, welcoming vibe where I’ve always felt safe walking around, even at night. The locals are kind and open, and there’s a strong sense of community and respect. The food is absolutely amazing — fresh fruits, local seafood, and delicious vegetarian options everywhere. Prices are quite reasonable compared to bigger tourist spots, which makes it easy to live simply and comfortably. Life in Mazunte moves slowly, close to nature and the ocean, and that simplicity brings a feeling of true safety and...

You generally feel safe in Mexico City if you’re in the “good” side of the city. People are super friendly, the transportation system is efficient and the food is amazing!!! Don’t miss churrería el Moro, the best churros I’ve tried!!! For good tacos go to el cocuyo, so good!
Posted: September 8, 2025Experienced: November, 2023I personally loved Merida. It felt perfectly safe during the day and night. Merida, like all of the Yucatán peninsula, is very expensive. It's close to european prices. The city is very touristy and "americanized" with many international restaurants and shops but you can still find good local food. From there, I visited Chichen Itza with a tour, and there are many cool Cenotes you can check out. I definitely recommend you do that.

If you are in the area of Ángelópolis, even at night it is a little safe, but always be aware of your surroundings. Walk on the streets with lots of light and people walking around. Sonata is pretty safe to walk at night

Safe area, I have traveled alone often, but avoid closed alleys, stay in busy places. It is a beautiful place full of art and culture, very fun and filled with gastronomy from different parts of the world, not just Mexican food.
Posted: January 25, 2026Overall you need to take precaution to avoid bad experiences, if using mobility apps (uber or alike) always try to peak at a public place and be sure to have double check code. Preferably share your location with your friends or local partners, and try to not look “expensive”, otherwise while visiting, you may encounter upper prices also check the surrounding areas to be sure you are in the place you wanted. There are loads of streets with the same name and you can get lost.

Totally depends on the area where you are, can be very safe in a lot of places but there are many neighborhoods that as a tourist you should never step foot on As long as you stay in popular/touristy areas you will have the most amazing time. Mexico City is the best city in the world, no doubt about it! Unfortunately Mexico's government and situation in general is not the best but that shouldn't stop you from visiting one of the most beautiful and incredible countries in the world Just please be careful, don't go out alone at night, don't walk around lonely places also be aware of...
Posted: November 18, 2025Guadalajara is a great city and really cool to visit alone but the People know thats your a tourist. Don't go outsider alone in the night. Don't go alone in quarter who are empty. Take an uber, it's safer and it's priceless. There are so many people who dispeared espacially women. Don't take a blablacar alone and who are not well rated : thats really dangerous !
