I would describe my city as pretty safe, nobody messes with tourists. It’s a pretty small town that crime is not that high compared to other Mexico cities. So yeah I would recommend going to San Carlos which is part of Guaymas, but is a more touristic place which there will be more people who talks in English

Guanajuato is pretty safe if you are a foreigner, but you must be careful, not only at Guanajuato but in all Mexico. People is great, people is nice, but the problem is not inside civilians, but criminal organizations. So, if you stay at good hours and at currently places, there’s nothing to worry about.

I've lived here nearly 7 years now(including collage) and I've felt really good. However I must say that when doing any type of activities at time time it's always better to have a friend and at day time it's pretty okay but I always recomendado letting a friend or love one know about you and your whereabouts.
Posted: May 10, 2025Normally as everywhere there are some people who bother you on the street they are always men, this place is safe when you are accompanied I do not recommend that you are on your own at night or very early. On the other hand, there are always police everywhere and shops or places to go if you need help, people are friendly to foreigners.
Posted: April 30, 2025It is a touristic city, so in the city center there are usually plenty of people, and police officers walking by from time to time. Avoid dark alleys and zones too far from the center too late at night as people are concerned about getting robbed. Aside from that, it is a pretty safe city, and the government takes measures because the city is touristy. Nearby cities in Guanajato are not as safe as the capital

If you do your research and keep to safe areas you should be fine. You shouldn't be going out alone after dark or taking Ubers and taxis alone as a woman (I wouldn't take the risk in daylight either, alone that is). Sadly the situation isn't the best right now. I do go out alone during the day, to take walks and go places and I don't feel like something is going to happen to me. Don't go into dodgy areas and be really aware of clubs, there are many stories of people being drugged, male and female. It's a place where your senses have to be alert, but not in a way that you should be looking around every corner and full of anxiety. Just be smart and attentive and keep to not-dodgy places and you'll be fine. I do want people to come and if you're smart, you'll be safe 😊

I had a solo trip to Cancun, Mexico, and I fell in love with this country! I felt very safe and comfortable. Local people are very friendly and nice. I even became friends with my host, and we are staying in touch ever since. I saw Chichen Itza, went scuba diving at Isla Mujeres and just had the best time in my life. Looking forward to go there again!
Posted: May 4, 2025My experience in Puerto Vallarta was not so good I didn't feel safe only in the big squares, there were people smoking weed at a public transport stop where there were children and families, I respect that but there are also places. The food was not as good or a good size I ate sushi in Plaza Caracol and expected more. Public transport is a bad thing if you are a foreigner and you don't have change, the driver does not let you pass. I was mostly in the sea and walking shopping along the boardwalk and there is a variety of prices for different budgets but preferably it is greater than 2000 Mexican pesos.
