The whole city is just fine other than two areas. Avoid going into the north end. Downtown is also somewhere to avoid at night and alone. Other areas are completely safe and nothing to worry about<<3.

Winnipeg is safe for the most part. But we avoid the downtown area at night. Crime rates are high but I personally have not seen anything brutal or intense. The residential areas are safe, but I wouldn’t go walking at night

It’s safe depending on where and when you are. Some areas are less safe than others. I think it’s probably just as safe as some other North American major cities. I’ve lived here all my life and have barely had any problems with safety.
Posted: December 24, 2024Winnipeg, like most places, is safe if you are in well lit areas and keep your wits about you (not being drunk solo, not being in areas you're unfamiliar with). If you are just stopping in for a visit I'd suggest checking out the Corydon area.
Posted: October 4, 2024Not so safe if you find yourself in very sketchy areas. One can still go out at night but just be very vigilant. I would say it could be a hit or a miss depending on the part of city you go to and ofcourse time of day.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience . I feel safe in Winnipeg. The people there are friendly. Things are cheaper comparing with other cities in Canada. I met a lot of friends during my working holiday.

Hey! I’m Pauline, an artist currently travelling fulltime around Europe. I love baking/cooking (in a nerdy way). I like slow travelling, learning languages, journalling, and train hopping! I speak English/Filipino, and basic Korean, French, and Spanish. Maybe enough German and Japanese to get by :)

Hi! I'm Jo. I'm 26, and a new traveler. I'm a bit of a nerd, I love Dungeons & Dragons, and board games. I love to meet new people and find new friends. I love discovering new coffee shops, pubs and pretty landscapes. I'm still a uni student doing a bachelor's and taking my sweet time at it. I love pets and all animals, fun fact I've ran infront of a truck to save a turtle on the drive back from my family's cabin once 😅 I love questions so if you have any! Ask away!
