Winnipeg, like most places, is safe if you are in well lit areas and keep your wits about you (not being drunk solo, not being in areas you're unfamiliar with). If you are just stopping in for a visit I'd suggest checking out the Corydon area.
Posted: October 4, 2024Not so safe if you find yourself in very sketchy areas. One can still go out at night but just be very vigilant. I would say it could be a hit or a miss depending on the part of city you go to and ofcourse time of day.
Posted: July 30, 2024Winnipeg can be safe during the day in public spaces. I would never recommend walking around at night alone in the downtown areas. Public bussing can be scary at times but tons of people do use it and are okay.
Posted: June 13, 2024Not totally safe, many people said here not safe. So I avoid being outside after dark, it even if I was outside late, I didn’t face any bad things. Also many people here are friendly and most of time here are safe. Don’t have to worry too much about safe problems.
Posted: May 23, 2024Winnipeg isn't the best place for solo travelers, don't go out after dark alone, I'd stay away from down town alone. It's hard to predict safety since there's pockets of safe! But pockets of not great areas. There's no one part of town to avoid. Usually you're fine during the day, may have some verbal yelling though.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience . I feel safe in Winnipeg. The people there are friendly. Things are cheaper comparing with other cities in Canada. I met a lot of friends during my working holiday.

Winnipeg is a safe town full of wonderful people. I felt safe here and I recommend a solo travel here. People are wonderful and happy to help out foreigners. I’d love to come back cause I made some friends over here. If you walk alone no one will bother you which is great!
