Quebec is a really calm city. There is no trouble going out (appart the cold). In the night there is absolutely no one in the streets, but if there is they will go really quickly to not bother you. There is nothing to be afraid of. If you have a problem, a lot of Quebec citizens are reaaly friendly and they will help you
Posted: January 10, 2025Québec City is a really safe place. Can be a little bit scary for woman from 1to3am if you are walking in busy street or close to bars. Otherwise, I would say that I feel pretty safe everywhere at anytime
Posted: December 30, 2024It is a really safe city, I have been living here for several years and I can confirm that, as a women, it is a really safe place to be. There is little to no harassment on the street. People are really friendly.

Of course the experience is not the same for all, but personally I always feel same in Quebec City. The only thing that could scared you is homeless people, but their are for the large majority very nice and event good people to have a little chat with (some can be a little bit racist… be careful). Sometimes intoxicated people can be agressive but there is always somebody close who you can ask for help. If you don’t want to pass by to many homeless people avoid : 1030 Rue des Prairies and 33 rue d’Auteuil. (I always walk in front of those homeless people’s shelter and nothing never happened to me.) Aside of that, stay carful in bar, there are some GHB intoxication.

Quebec city is full of people working for the government. This is quiet people such stay home on the evening. It makes the city very safe to travel to. For a population of 575 400 people, Quebec city has a total of 60 violent crimes committed over the last year and most of them had been committed by new comers against their family members. You can really feel safe to go everywhere and there's always someone to help you with anything.
Posted: November 9, 2024I feel safe to walk at night, but you gotta know where to be or not be as there are creepy places. I try to not use small alleys, but main streets generally makes me safe! Never experienced harassment.
Posted: September 9, 2024Quebec City is very safe. However, there has been a rise in drug use, homelessness, and mental health issues, particularly in the downtown area. This said, I live downtown and have never felt unsafe.

Québec City is very safeoverall. The only thing that I would look for is homeless people in St-Roch and St-Sauveur which is more "trash" than the rest. Nothing ever happened to me and my female friends, but you never know so just stay alert and avoid them. The good thing is that the police is present in those places and quick to respond.

I typically don't go out very often (very much a home-school-job/sports-home kinda person), but i'm used to taking the bus at all times of day. Usually last busses are okay but sometimes between 11pm and 12h30 am there are some weird people in there (pretty usual for a city). I've had some instances of being followed/being incessantly asked for my number but very few and far between tbh. Most unsafe I've felt would be when wearing my scarf over my head when it's cold (kinda looks like a hijab if you're dumb ig) and taking the bus late at night as islamophobia and xenophobia/racism is on the rise.
Posted: July 1, 2024Being a local, I would say that overall, Québec city is very safe. I live in upper town and in my view, it is safer than downtown, since there is more homeless people there. Vieux-Québec, St-Jean-Baptiste, Montcalm, Ste-Foy, are Sillery are very nice neighborhoods and are very safe environments. Vieux-Québec is very tourist friendly. On the other hand, St-Roch, St-Sauveur, and some parts of Limoilou are less safe. That being said, I never felt really scared, I am just more cautious when I'm in these neighborhoods. I would end by saying Québec is a beautiful town that really is worth visiting ! Welcome ! :)

Québec was very nice little city ! I felt very safe and people were very kind. Accommodation : I stayed at youth hotel Qbeds. Which was good for a first time because you have curtains around your bed and the atmosphere is very cool. If you like silence maybe it is not the best place to sleep on the Friday and Saturday cause there will be parties. Visits: I booked a ticket to have a guided visit of Frontenac castle follow by a brunch to the castle restaurant. By the way the brunch is amazing. I did a cruise until Orleans island and waterfalls of Montmorency. It was beautiful. Good restaurants seem to be a bit expensives but I ate well!

I felt extremely safe. The areas are generally crowded but it’s filled with people having a good time. The food is absolutely amazing. There’s a lot of culture, I recommend the castle tour. Try any restaurant that serves game (I.e. rabbit, venison etc) I drove but it was easy getting by just walking. Parking is safe. Things are a bit more expensive. I didn’t stay in Quebec City but about 30 minutes away.
