Québec City is very safeoverall. The only thing that I would look for is homeless people in St-Roch and St-Sauveur which is more "trash" than the rest. Nothing ever happened to me and my female friends, but you never know so just stay alert and avoid them. The good thing is that the police is present in those places and quick to respond.

I typically don't go out very often (very much a home-school-job/sports-home kinda person), but i'm used to taking the bus at all times of day. Usually last busses are okay but sometimes between 11pm and 12h30 am there are some weird people in there (pretty usual for a city). I've had some instances of being followed/being incessantly asked for my number but very few and far between tbh. Most unsafe I've felt would be when wearing my scarf over my head when it's cold (kinda looks like a hijab if you're dumb ig) and taking the bus late at night as islamophobia and xenophobia/racism is on the rise.
Posted: July 1, 2024Being a local, I would say that overall, Québec city is very safe. I live in upper town and in my view, it is safer than downtown, since there is more homeless people there. Vieux-Québec, St-Jean-Baptiste, Montcalm, Ste-Foy, are Sillery are very nice neighborhoods and are very safe environments. Vieux-Québec is very tourist friendly. On the other hand, St-Roch, St-Sauveur, and some parts of Limoilou are less safe. That being said, I never felt really scared, I am just more cautious when I'm in these neighborhoods. I would end by saying Québec is a beautiful town that really is worth visiting ! Welcome ! :)
Posted: June 15, 2024Quebec City’s a safe city where you can walk alone during the day and during the nights. People are so friendly and always said hello and are open to help you wherever the situation. As the French the main language, most of the time people speak French and English.

Quebec City is probably one of the safest city you will visit. Safety is not an issue here. I often walk at 2-3am and I don’t even bother. I might not walk through a park so late at night because some people might be doing drugs but Im sure they wouldn’t bother me if I passed by them.

Québec was very nice little city ! I felt very safe and people were very kind. Accommodation : I stayed at youth hotel Qbeds. Which was good for a first time because you have curtains around your bed and the atmosphere is very cool. If you like silence maybe it is not the best place to sleep on the Friday and Saturday cause there will be parties. Visits: I booked a ticket to have a guided visit of Frontenac castle follow by a brunch to the castle restaurant. By the way the brunch is amazing. I did a cruise until Orleans island and waterfalls of Montmorency. It was beautiful. Good restaurants seem to be a bit expensives but I ate well!

I felt extremely safe. The areas are generally crowded but it’s filled with people having a good time. The food is absolutely amazing. There’s a lot of culture, I recommend the castle tour. Try any restaurant that serves game (I.e. rabbit, venison etc) I drove but it was easy getting by just walking. Parking is safe. Things are a bit more expensive. I didn’t stay in Quebec City but about 30 minutes away.

Travel lover, eager to meet people to experience other cultures. To this day, I was working to travel and putting my energy into getting early retirement to be free to travel more. I realized I can live my dream with work, so I'm going to study tourism!

Welcoming or being hosted by a local person is a wonderful way to travel. As a women, I think that we enrich each other by opening the door to our homes. I am a feminist, open-minded and socially engaged women, who loves traveling around the world. Travelling is about connexion for me and I am always grateful to welcome travellers or being welcomed by a host. I live on the Orleans Island, Quebec. I also own a small appartment downtown Quebec City, where I stay part-time. I have two wonderful kids that are now adults and who love to travel too.
