Certain ares are safe than others. In general, people don't really approach you in public during daytime. They approach you more often at night when you are alone and when you're dressed up very nicely. I'm pretty much on the bigger stronger side of women, I feel like it plays a big part in my level of safety and in my chances of being assaulted.
Posted: January 21, 2025It always depends on the neughborhood. If you don’t go to Montréal-Nord and stay close to the metro lines and downtown you’ll be fine. During the day it’s very safe. I never felt like I had to hide my phone.
Posted: January 20, 2025Montreal is safe in most parts and the crime rates are low, but a few spots should be avoided after dark. The locals are friendly and welcoming, so feel free to ask someone for help if you feel unsafe.
Posted: January 19, 2025Pretty safe city as long as you’re not in some dark alley or something , public transport pretty safe there’s always other people with you , there’s crazy people in the metro they might yell at you but you just have to ignore them .

It’s quite safe, honestly! There aren’t a lot of crimes where I live since it’s not directly in Montreal city, I live in a banlieue, where everything is more calm. Public transports really are different all around montreal, but where I live, it’s very safe, there aren’t that many choices though! Montreal is overall quite safe and welcoming, but it’s not perfect, so pay attention to your surroundings!

Like in any big city, you need to be aware that petty crime can happen at any time. However, I’ve only been in a few situations where I felt unsafe, and it was mostly in the subway. People can be a bit scary there, but they usually never come near you. If you’ve even been in the NYC subway, then Montreal is 100x less dangerous and scary than NYC.
Posted: January 14, 2025I feel very safe. I can walk alone in the night. Sometime i feel a little worried in the subway or in the street when some homeless people are drunk or high. But in general I feel safe. I feel freedom.

There are alot of homeless people but they don't hurt others. They're mostly harmful towards themselves. However I've had some bad experiences with being followed at night and others approaching me under the influence to ask some money.

Most places are pretty safe. There are some sketchy places but even there it’s pretty chill if you mind your own business. Public transport are safe even though there can be homeless people or crackheads. Montreal is a safe city if you are not actively looking for trouble.
Posted: January 5, 2025To be honest I think it’s fairly safe and safer than a lot of places, but at the same time I take normal precautions like not going outside past a certain hour like 8-9 yk, and I dress in a modest fashion so idk…

I absolutely loved my trip to Montreal. I felt very safe and appreciated how organized and walkable the city was. The bike lanes were fantastic, making it easy to explore sustainably. Montreal’s diverse attractions, beautiful architecture, and environmentally conscious vibe really resonated with me. Plus, the variety of restaurants offered such a rich cultural experience. It’s truly a stunning and inspiring city. Total cost is approximately $1,000.

I’m currently travelling in Montreal, I’m here for a month. I’m having a lot of fun here, it’s really nice and safe place, as a woman I feel very good with the city and walking by myself. The only bad point would be the prices that are very high unfortunately…

Hi, I am a french-speaking canadian from Montreal. I like arts crafts, especially dancing. I am a little socially akward sometimes but don’t worry, I am super happy to talk even if I don’t look like I do!
