Montreal is a really safe city, no pickpockets , never had any bad experience in public or using public transport. It is also very easy to find your way and people are always there to help, I recommend visiting:)
Posted: May 30, 2025Honestly, it's very safe in most parts of Montreal. Of course though, men still exist so it's a good idea to never leave your drink unchecked and to ask another woman for help or reassurance. Sorority is pretty good here.

The place where I live is really safe , never had a problem with my neighbours, only families in my building so it’s kind of respectful place , Montrealers are very nice , they don’t judge they mind their own business . No worries about security

Downtown you will be catcalled and might be approached by men, who can sometimes be insistant But shut them up or ignore them and leave and Im usually alright I try to keep 1 earphone out at night when walking alone, especially downtown, which is less safe, and I try to keep an eye on my surroundings But during the day its pretty same tbh
Posted: May 6, 2025Montreal is a pretty safe city, where there are rarely any pickpockets or day crimes. One has to stay cautious but overall pretty safe. You can walk with your phone in your hands and no one will snatch it away
Posted: April 26, 2025Montreal is very safe in most part! Would recommend for solo female traveler and LGBTQ+. People are really kind and crime is low. Just be aware of your surroundings during night as everywhere else! Stay in touristy areas for even more safety precautions

I was traveling with a group and still got approached by people with questionable intents, some beggars who were rude as well, so I wouldn’t say it’s entirely safe for solo traveling. Only in certain areas though, like alleys and I experienced it along Chinatown. During the day, much better, so many lively people. They still wanted to speak English so that was a relief. Did not get to interact much with the locals, unfortunately. I loved visiting Old Montreal, touristy but worth it. I had the best noodles with the biggest bowl ever, I forgot the name but definitely check that out. Poutine was bomb. Worth to visit if you are visiting Canada and are not too far away from Montreal.

I absolutely loved my trip to Montreal. I felt very safe and appreciated how organized and walkable the city was. The bike lanes were fantastic, making it easy to explore sustainably. Montreal’s diverse attractions, beautiful architecture, and environmentally conscious vibe really resonated with me. Plus, the variety of restaurants offered such a rich cultural experience. It’s truly a stunning and inspiring city. Total cost is approximately $1,000.
