It is quite safe! There are some neighbourhoods to avoid though, but uptown and the suburbs are safe after dark. I would not go to the areas around uptown, or the north side, after dark, but these places are all safe during the day.
Posted: June 20, 2025Saint John is a vibrant city with lots to do. Many hiking trails, and old architecture. I felt safe in most parts of the city but if I were to do a lot of walking around the city at night, I would feel safer in a group.
