Is Rimouski safe for women?

I am a student in Rimouski and have been experiencing a lot of nightlife;) people are sweet and aware of the situation of the women in the society, always looking out for each others and here for a good time. The local shops are worth visiting and everyone is friendly. I have never used public transport since it is a walkable city.
