Safety:Safe

Rabat, as the capital city of Morocco, is generally safe with robust police presence and generally respectful locals. However, one still needs to be cautious especially at night and in less crowded areas. Street harassment might occur but usually doesn't escalate beyond catcalling. Always maintain awareness of your surroundings, and be wary of potential pickpockets in crowded areas. Trust your intuition and ensure your accommodation has good security. It's also a good idea to dress modestly to respect local customs and avoid unwanted attention.

Transport:Moderate

Rabat is a city with few attractions that are scattered across the city, making it somewhat easy to get around. There's a blend of old and new, with historic sites close to modern areas. The locals are friendly and usually willing to direct you if you get lost. Street signs can be confusing as they may be in Arabic or French, and sometimes both. Walking can often be an enjoyable and sufficient means of transportation. You may need to rely on taxis or public transports occasionally, especially if you want to visit sites that are outside the city center. It's recommended to have a navigation app on your smartphone.

Things to do:Interesting

Rabat, as the capital of Morocco, exhibits a blend of old-world charm and modern life. You'll have plenty to do, from wandering through the medina and exploring the Kasbah of the Udayas, which offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. There’s also the culturally significant Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower to visit. Modern art galleries and stylish boutiques offer the perfect retreat for art lovers and serious shoppers. Plus, there's an array of local dining experiences to try traditional Moroccan food. While it may not be as pulsating as cities like Marrakech, it offers a more laid back, yet still captivating, slice of Moroccan life.

Food:Excellent

Rabat, boasts a rich and diverse culinary scene. Traditional Moroccan dishes such as tagine and couscous are heavily featured on menus, with subtle variations hinting at regional influences. The seamless blend of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors provides a true gastronomical adventure. Street food is just as appetizing, with stalls lining bustling markets offering mouth-watering quick bites such as fresh seafood, kebabs, and pastries. Moreover, Rabat's geographical location on the Atlantic Ocean makes it a haven for seafood lovers. It often incorporates fresh catches into local dishes, ensuring food that is as fresh as it is flavorful. The city's food offerings cater to a large spectrum of tastes and dietary preferences including vegan and vegetarian options as well.

Budget:Moderate

Rabat, as the capital city of Morocco, is moderately budget-friendly. Accommodation prices vary greatly, but budget options are available. Eating local dishes at street vendors and small cafes is incredibly cheap. However, expect to spend more than in other Moroccan cities if you plan on visiting many tourist attractions, shopping in upscale places, or dining in high-end restaurants.

Family travel experience

One of the most friendliest place in morroco, I was able to wear shorts and no one was giving me any looks. Locals are very happy to help you, there isn’t much to do in the old town once you’ve visited it, but I recommend it !
