Is Africa Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Africa is generally safe for solo female travellers. It is important to research the areas you plan to visit and take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety. Be aware of your surroundings, avoid travelling alone at night, and dress modestly. Additionally, it is recommended to stay in secure accommodation and to register with your embassy or consulate in the country you are visiting.

Solo travel

I started my journey in Kenya in Mombasa, then flew to Rwanda and took a gorilla trekking trip, then travelled overland and stayed overnight in Rwanda, Uganda, until I returned back to Kenya. Then I flew to South Africa and travelled along the coast of Cape Town, Hermanus, Simons Town, Gansbaai and Stellenbosch. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Stay with locals in Africa

Stay with local women in Africa who offer free accommodation as part of cultural exchange. Hospitality exchange is a great way to meet new people, learn more about new cultures and experience destinations like a local.
