How safe is Chefchaouen?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Chefchaouen, often dubbed as the 'Blue City' of Morocco, tends to be relatively safe for solo female travelers during daytime, but it's not as secure during the night. The city is known for its warm hospitality and the locals are usually very helpful. However, it's a rule of thumb to be cautious when walking alone at night, anywhere in the world. The streets in Chefchaouen are winding and narrow, which can be confusing and daunting if you're alone. Always stay alert, avoid deserted areas, and it's better to take a taxi rather than walking alone late in the evening.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Chefchaouen is generally considered safe. However, it may feel slightly daunting if you're not familiar with the local customs and language. Public buses are the most common mode of transport. They are reliable, but can occasionally be crowded, which might make some travelers feel uncomfortable. Taxis are also available, but be sure to negotiate fares before the ride. Always remain vigilant about your personal belongings while using public transport.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Chefchaouen, being a popular tourist destination in Morocco, is relatively safer for solo female travelers. Street harassment isn't a prominent issue and locals are often friendly and welcoming. However, as in any location, it's always wise to take standard precautions such as avoiding dimly lit areas at night and sticking to the more frequented streets. Also, keep in mind that the Moroccan culture is generally conservative, so dressing respectfully can also help avoid unnecessary attention.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Chefchaouen is relatively safe when it comes to petty crimes. While it's always important to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings, cases of pickpocketing, bag snatching, or scam attempts are relatively rare compared to other similar-sized cities around the world. As a solo female traveler, you should take usual precautions such as not flashing expensive items in public and avoiding less crowded areas at night.

Couple travel

Very very beautiful city un Morroco, called the blue city. Very safe, nice people, multiple options to eat. There’s a waterfall clase to the city. There is no pressure for buying as in bigger cities and there’s also art more contemporary. I really recommend going, you can go on a tour if you feel better this way. I would have preferred going on out own.

Solo travel

Chefchaouen is beautiful, but very small and peaceful. I spent a day/night there and probably would have been satisfied with just an afternoon.
