Is Riomaggiore safe for solo female travelers?

Riomaggiore is known for its friendly locals and well-lit streets. The crime rate is quite low and locals are very helpful. Always busy with tourists, it's quite safe to move around both day and night. However, like any other tourist spot, pickpocketing in crowded places can happen. Therefore, remain vigilant. The local police force is also proactive and approachable. Public transportation including trains and buses are safe to use.

How safe is Riomaggiore for female travelers?

Solo travel

Cinque Terre overall is very easy to get around, and it's very safe. I travelled late at night on the train and never felt weird at any point. I stayed in an Airbnb run by a woman and that always helps me feel safer. It is expensive here as it caters to tourists. You can get duped by a few not great restaurants in the area but it's easily avoided. HIKE! It's so worth it, but be prepared with sunscreen, trail running shoes (at least) water, basic day hike supplies. Lots of people get injured trying to trek the trails in sandals, and some need helicopter rescues. The emergency team works for free so save them the trouble. Be safe about the water - on the harbour people were getting way too brave on the breakwater rocks and almost hit by waves. Also, ensure you're using a reputable boating company if you're touring the water.
