We went to Naples with my friends from high school, a group of 6 girls. We had an awesome time, everybody kept saying to us not to rent close to the train station but after all there was the cheapest option and the one we could afford. We only stayed for 3-4 days so I don't have Many reccomendations but we had discovered a bar near our place that we spend every night, the people were warm and even if we didn't spoke the language somehow we were able to communicate 💜 I would totally recommend ☺️

Hi girls !! I spent a month near Naples and had the opportunity to visit the city several times. I always felt safe there, but I never experienced the nightlife. Don't bother going to the vintage market in Ercolano, it's just a street with a few thrift shops. Don't miss the historic center, where prices are the cheapest for food and gift shops, and you must also visit the Spanish Quarter!
Posted: March 7, 2025Experienced: January, 2025It is a beautiful city especially. The trip is so much better when you add Sorento or Positano to the route. I was fine traveling with my friends. But some of my friends had some unfortunate incidents in the city so I suggest you to be very careful. But there is a lot to see and a lot to eat. Probably the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in Italy. You’ll have a great time as long as you’re careful.

I felt safe because I was not alone. There are many things to see such as the sea, Vesuvius, Pompeii, many churches, wonderful squares and also beautiful sights. For those who love nightlife there are many bars and discos. Our budget was 500€ per one for 1 week, there are many accomodations on booking.it It is well served by public transport, the food is very good but not very cheap( make the booking before to go on a restaurant or pizzeria if you don't want do a very long line)
Posted: January 13, 2025I liked Naples, I was at a great hotel with a lot of travelers. The only time when I didn't feel safe us when I heard that another woman staying at my hotel was strangled by a robber trying to rob her purse until her male friend came and the robber took off. Nothing happened to me or her except for shock but it made me feel less safe there, especially at night.
Posted: July 23, 2024Experienced: August, 2021The city is a mess, you either love it or hate it. It has the same vibe as Brazil. Didn’t really feel safe although nothing bad happened. The attractions were amazing. Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, catacombs, st. Elmo… and they have big discounts for <25
Posted: July 13, 2024Even though Naples is considered rough and a bit dangerous because of robberies, my boyfriend and I have never had any problems. I used to go to Naples a lot when I was a teenager and nothing ever happened. The Campanian cuisine is one of the best in Italy and the city is so characteristic that there's no such thing like it anywhere else in the world. We had lots of fun choosing street food; the streets in town are full of little display cabinets of typical food. Not to mention pizza! This is the capital of pizza and we think Di Matteo is the best pizzeria in Naples (a reminder in case you wished to visit this amazing city)
Posted: July 6, 2024Experienced: January, 2024City is not your typical European city. Lot of cat calling, can be very dangerous at night. I was with a friend and we did not feel safe walking when the sun came down even if we were 2. Having done a lot of solo travelling, I would be very cautious if I need to go back to Naples.
Posted: June 27, 2024Their are still going rumours over Naples, that says this City would be a dangerous place, but I didn't experienced this. Instead I had a fun time on a vivid and colourful place, with bright sunshine the whole May. Sights here are interesting, people are friendly, food and hostels are cheap - best conditions, when you need something that fits into your pocket. You have only to deal with the loud and crazy traffic and the point, that not so many here speaking well English - but for me the trip was worth it!

I think Naples has a bad reputation outside of Italy, because of safety reasons, but I felt safe all the time as a solo traveler. People in Naples are one of a kind, in a good way. Most of the time I walked, a lot of attractions are really close to each other. The food was excellent and really affordable in Naples. I only tried street food in there, like the cuoppo fritto and portafoglio. They were amazing and cheap.

The strongest element in the city is the great community all around. If someone sees or listen something they don’t like, they will interfere and help without hesitation. No one is left alone. Naples is known for a sad criminality history and we can say that just in the last 5/10 years the city opened completely to tourism. That’s why no one wants bad stuff to happen
Posted: March 17, 2025Naples is a city like Rome or Milan, not worst. As all the big cities in the world, you should avoid to walk alone in the most isolated neighbourhoods in the night. Careful to your phone and wallet even during the day, especially in the most crowded areas and on public transport.
