I love this city with all my heart. I went there for the first time on a school trip and there were a lot of things to do. I visited it again in February, because a friend of mine is studying there. I loved it even more , the food was amazing, it has plenty of pretty coffee shops were you can chat and spend quality time with your friends, and you can find several activities to do. My favourite was a horror escape room we visited, I thought it was an amazing and funny experience. But my...

I love my trips to Thessaloniki, with my friend group there we go to bars and on hikes. I've been seeing them every summer and will always recommend and prefer this city over any touristic island in Greece

The food and hotel service was amazing. I really enjoyed the view and food. People weren't as nice as they wete in Kavala but still Greek people are kind in general. Locals usually know English so you won't struggle with communication. I recommend eating seafood in Greece.
Posted: March 24, 2026Experienced: July, 2025I felt safe, I spent under 25 euros a day. Food was amazing. I went with tour so my experience was limited yet I highly recommend. Every person I've encountered seems to understand english. It is refreshing walking in the Aristoteles square and trying greek pastries thereby.

Thessaloniki is a generally safe city I would say. The area close to the train station is very unsafe especially for women tho. A lot of thieves, drug users etc live there, so I would definitely recommend to check on your surroundings and NEVER go in this area alone or with headphones on.
Posted: June 1, 2026As I live here as a uni student I never felt unsafe and I’m very glad about that. All people are generous and helpful. As a big city Thessaloniki continuously is full of people whenever and that’s something very important
Posted: May 26, 2026It has a very low crime rate. You can walk at night and at anytime without being scared. Also they don’t have a lot of guns hear if any I think just some crime sometimes when it is late at night and no people on some of the roads

Pretty new here, but my work place is situated in a "red" area with clubs and prostitution zones. Not super safe while working the night shift and coming to work on foot. I'll update when I start really going out

Hello girls! I am Greek and of course it's cheaper to travel abroad rather than Greece! I am 20 yrs and I am Chemical Engineer student in Thesssaloniki. I love cycling and I want to explore the world by bikepacking. I know it's hard but it calls me. I want to connect and meet inspiring women and people in general. I am an artistic person even though I study engineering. Life is strange.
