Its vibrant cultural scene and historical sites are easy to navigate. Public transportation is safe and cases of harassment are rare. However, like any other city, be aware of your surroundings especially during the night.

Transport:Easy

Thessaloniki is fairly navigable for solo female travelers. The city is equipped with straightforward bus routes that cover all the significant points of interests. Walking around the city center is another option and actually provides a more intimate experience, as many attractions are relatively close to each other. However, occasional traffic jams and limited signage in English may pose some difficulty.

Things to do:Interesting

Thessaloniki offers a wide range of activities and sights for solo female travelers. The city has timeless charm, with Byzantine walls and Ottoman, Roman, and Sephardic Jewish structures scattered throughout, ideal for history enthusiasts. The city's vibrant food scene allows you to explore local markets and taste delicious Greek cuisine. Art lovers won't be disappointed either, thanks to the wide array of museums and galleries. Don't miss the sunset at the White Tower for a scenic view of the city and the sea. It loses one point due to its slightly less busy nightlife compared to other European cities, but overall it provides a rich and diverse travel experience.

Food:Excellent

Thessaloniki boasts a diverse culinary scene, making it a paradise for food lovers. Local cuisine reflects a rich blend of cultures with Mediterranean influences offering traditional Greek delicacies, freshly caught seafood, sweet treats, and an array of healthy, fresh and delicious vegetarian options. Street food is also highly popular, allowing exploratory tastings of many different specialties. The city is also reputed for its numerous local wines that perfectly accompany the dishes. Its vibrant food markets are also worth visiting, offering a variety of local, fresh produce and delicacies.

The cost of food, accommodations, and sightseeing is relatively lower compared to many other European cities. Solo travel experience

Since I went to Thessaloniki with a tour, the hotel I stayed in was 40 minutes away from the city center, so I don't recommend staying far from the center. Our guide told us that if we wanted to use a taxi, it would cost 45 Euros from the city center to the hotel. It is a city with a young population and nightlife in summer. The promenade and Aristoteles square were incredible! There is a wide variety of bars and if you want to eat there are many tavernas. There is also musical entertainment in the tavernas and the ouzo is really good. We paid 45 euros for the taverna but it was part of the tour package so it was more expensive. Even 20-30 Euros will be enough. Thessaloniki is a really colorful and fun city. I felt very comfortable even in the side streets and did not encounter any problems. I also saw that there are tours from the city center to various beaches. I can say that Thessaloniki is one of the most beautiful places to go in summer!

Group travel experience

was a fun city and unsuspectingly fun, close to beautiful beaches. some harassment but everyone was friendly and the food was amazing and within a very easy budget. Very walkable and beautiful views of the ocean, accommodation was easy as well. A lot of cats and cool ruins but overall it is a port city not very beachy itself. In terms of harassment some men selling bracelets were very forward with their tactics sometimes with physical contact, but besides that there is not a lot of negative interaction.
