based on 8 experiences from female travelers
I felt safe, I spent under 25 euros a day. Food was amazing. I went with tour so my experience was limited yet I highly recommend. Every person I've encountered seems to understand english. It is refreshing walking in the Aristoteles square and trying greek pastries thereby.

Thessaloniki is such a beautiful city. The people are so nice and helpful, very social compared to where I come from. There is a lot of catcalling unfortunately, men of all age shouting and whistling, we were approached a few times too but it was handled with a simple story of telling that we're traveling with a man:’) I definitely recommend visiting Halkidiki; rent a car or take the bus! Also Ano Poli is worth it, the cafes and general vibe there made me want to stay there forever. There are...

Thessaloniki is a students city which means that it never sleeps! There are always people out, groups of friends, eating, walking, drinking. Of course as a solo female traveler it’s always better to avoid dark and remote areas (mostly closer to the train and bus stations).

Thessaloniki is overall a safe city. There ate petty crimes happening like in everything big city. As long as you stay around the center you'll be safe even as a solo traveller since it's busy. Be careful of pickpockets in street/flea markets and in public transportation.
Posted: January 6, 2026There are regions such us the city center and the harbor that are pretty safe both in day and night. However while night you have to be extremely careful bc there are many drunk people in the streets. Also must always check on your bags while using public transportation because of the pickpockets (there are not so many but... better safe than sorry:)). But overall I wouldn't say that Thessaloniki is a dangerous town. You just have to be careful at crowded places and small streets at night

Hi beautiful people!!🌙I'm a film student, really into arts and politics. I love nature and also the street culture. I decided I have to explore the world (inner and outer) so that to remember all the important things we've forgotten. It's nice we can help each other in feeling safe (as capitalism is killing us). Im from the island Crete, now living in Thessaloniki. If you need a place to stay in both places, send me a message, I would love to meet you and showing around or suggest u local (non touristic) places 💗 🇵🇸🏴☠️🧜🏼♀️🦌🦔🌱

❕not able to host until November! Hi beautiful people!! :) I’m Anastasia, 22yo and currently studying economics I ♡: food, tea, concerts, picnics, vinyl bars, cinemas, cozy cafes, kind people, dogs, nature, I’m more of a homebody tho.. I get excited talking about music, films, series, books, anime and foooood. My taste in all things is broad. I’ve solo traveled once before using a similar app; I’ve hosted, surfed and hang out with people and I loved it! I hope I can have the same experience here! My home is a safe space for everyone<3
