How safe is Mykonos?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Mykonos is generally safe at night, especially in high-traffic areas and tourist hotspots. The locals are friendly and accommodating towards tourists. However, just as in any location worldwide, it is still recommended to remain mindful of your surroundings, avoid less populated areas or dark alleys at night, and never leave your drinks unattended. Particularly during peak tourist season, pickpocketing in crowded areas can occur, but instances of more serious crime are quite low. Always prioritize your personal safety and exercise common sense.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Mykonos is considered safe, reliable and widely used by locals and tourists. The bus services are regularly scheduled and connect to most of the island. Although crowded during peak tourist season, instances of crime are quite low. However, caution is recommended to avoid pickpockets in crowded areas.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Mykonos is generally a friendly and welcoming destination. Female travelers report that they are largely free from any form of street harassment. Nonetheless, always maintain caution and be vigilant of your surroundings, particularly during nights and when in crowded areas.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Mykonos is generally a safe destination, even if you are traveling alone. Petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag-snatching are relatively rare, but they can occasionally happen, especially in crowded places. Just like in any other touristic place, it's important to be aware of your belongings at all times. Practicing usual caution like keeping your purse close, not leaving your belongings unattended, and avoiding isolated areas at night would help prevent such incidences. The local authorities also work hard to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors, so you can feel secure while enjoying your trip.

Group travel

Stayed at the Mykonos Bay Resort (booked early, was the best hotel, service and food of our entire trip) and insane breakfast spread included each day + has an incredible pool + and beach (water is rocky - typical of Mykonos) 15min walk (a little uphill with an incredible view) to Mykonos town Very safe for walking during the day and at night, several people in groups and solo walking to/from at night on the roads as well Recommend: Avoid being out from 11-3, use this time to layout and tan + nap and then start getting ready for dinner Luxury brands like Louis Vuitton are here + open late until 2am and are packed like a club a night…not an exaggeration, we saw it like this at midnight. Everyone is out late here If in town on a Sunday, you have got to go to Scorpios Sunday, there’s a shuttle bus from Mykonos town that can take you there, otherwise try to get a car service phone number to schedule a ride ahead of time (60€ return ride)… it gets insanely packed like a Vegas night club. Don’t accept a drink unless you see it get poured here, way too packed of a place and I wouldn’t count on the people here to advocate for someone if they saw something happening.

Solo travel

I traveled to Mykonos solo (24 yr old woman) for two nights and had a great time! Food and drinks were way more expensive than other parts of Greece, but I expected that. It was also a little difficult to meet people at the beach clubs (slightly pretentious vibes), but I did feel very safe and had a great time going out in the old town.

Couple travel

I felt pretty safe in Mykonos. I walked around during the day, locals were nice. It was pretty crowded with tourists. I didn’t really do much besides walking around and shopping. Mykonos is pretty expensive compared to the other islands so be prepared for that. There were buses, boats and cabs to get around the island.

Solo travel

Mykonos is a party island and promotes itself in this way. I had a good time on this island, but I'm not the party type. Two or three days were enough to explore the island.

Solo travel

This is terribly touristic and expensive, and without friends, it's not so fun anymore. The party scene was difficult to understand for a young, lonely woman... unfortunately, I was sexually harassed in a club.

Solo travel

I loved Mykonos. I stayed at the Palladium Boutique Hotel and it was easily accessible, located near 3 beaches and Little Venice. Kastos is my favorite restaurant, but it was a bit expensive. I would not recommend the Buddha Bar, it was overrated and the food was just okay.
